Lightest OEM Size Wheel? - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Hi everyone, like most people, I'd like to get a aftermarket set of wheels. My primary goal is saving some un-sprung weight. I'd like to stick to the OEM wheel size to maintain the stock feel and lightest weight possible.

I notice that most aftermarket wheels are wider. What are the lightest wheels I can find that has OEM sizing (215/45r17) and are under $450 per wheel? (Enkei RPF1 isn't my cup of tea unfortunately)

Wedssport TC105X comes in OEM like size:17x7,5 +45 (for PP at least) and weight should be around 15 lbs. Not sure if you can get them under 450$/wheel.

Yea I really want the TC105x however after tax and shipping they're more like $550 per wheel x.x

With the Enkei RPF1's, will going with 17x7.5+48 be just like oem where my rear wheels are way too sunken in?

Used sets of TE37 in 17x7/7.5 usually do not command a lot of interest and can be had for about $1500-$2000

SSR Type C are also quite lightweight. There is a set available on craigslist for $1k . I read 17x7.5 weighs in at 14.9 pounds

While that’s true they’re also very difficult to find. I snagged a set of 18x7.5 TE37s for my 2013 after over a year of periodically searching. I’d love to find another set for the 2022.

Of course with the same width, same offset, they'll put the wheel lip and tires in exactly the same place relative to fenders. Get lower offset and/or wider if you don't want them to look as sunken-in.

IMO, just go for it! Save some more & get this really fantastic wheel, you won't regret it.

I have 18x8.5 +43 TC105X @ 16.4 lbs/wheel w/ 225-40 PS4S (21 lbs) & such huge difference in weight from stock makes the car feel so much lighter & agile. Yes, it's not cheap but I'm happy not only with its performance but also knowing I have a little more unique setup than most who go for Enkei’s, Work, Rays, etc.

Fun fact, 2004 STI wheels are 17x7.5 and weigh <16lbs. They will clear Brembos too.

Those trd 17" RS2.0 wheels are lighter than stock but for a 17x7.5 forged wheel they are not light compared to other options.

I believe the TWS t66-f still holds the title for lightest forged consumer aluminum wheels.

Their 17's don't come available in 7.5 though but they 17x8.0 weigh in at just under 14lbs (6.32kg)

EDIT: sorry didn't see the price cap. @ 450 a wheel you best bet would be the TRD. I'd just go with the rpf1's in that case and use the saved $ over getting the trd's towards better rubber

If you are open to a 225/45R17 tire you can cross shop 17x8 sizing. Still gives you plenty of offset flexibility.
