I'm not a gambling man, but if I were to place a bet, I suspect header/tune on the 2nd gen is going to net about the same % it did on the 1st gen.

As long as it fills in the dip like first gen, I'll be happy. I'm not expecting peak power to gain much if anything.

Gotcha. Though it seems like evidence, I don't know that I trust that so much. Not trying to rip at the point you were trying to make, but from the many dyno's I've seen in the past and general people's info, headers with no tune provide very little gain. The tune is usually what does the magic in combination with them.

That's what makes that dyno graph seem very odd or incorrect. It's like the header got him most of the gains and then a tune barely had much left to add.

Hmmmm now I wonder whether toyobaru is scaling down the torque curve on the dash to make the dip look less severe. Some one quick deconstruct the rom pls! Can't wait to see what some tuning can do!

There can be a fair bit of variation between cars, but they certainly have smoothed it more this time.

For instance my car last time looked a lot more like this torque curve, it peaked before the dip.

Of course the dip was ~1.5 thousand revs long ledge to ledge, quite deep, and started from a much lower baseline.

Used the screenshot from Blighty to create the attached graph. I for one love to be lazy and luggggg the engine and WOT (yes it is wrong and not you shouldn't do it) to overtake. so i was curious what the location of the torque dip is with respect to the freeway speeds and gears.

seems like at 65 to 70mph, you are likely "upslope" and close to "1st torque peak" and can ride that wave till 80mph. which should make for a "sporty drive". if you want to lose your license, then you should downshift to 4th and be right on the "2nd torque peak" which is nice and broad and juicy.

In gen1, you would likely already be slightly past the "1st torque peak" (assume ~3200rpm) at above speeds and going into the valley so.....

I'm confused by what you said, but I'm giving you 10/10 for making pretty charts from a garbage screenshot

Hahahah, thanks! The executive summary is, the torque peak for the new gen is higher up the rpm range than the old/current model, such that at normal (legal) freeway speeds, you have yet to reach the torque peak in 6th gear. And you can still enjoy the torque while lugging the engine in 6th up beyond legal speeds. whereas in the old/current gen, if you lug in 6th gear, you are more or less past the torque peak and heading into the torque dip valley.

I have a Hail Mary hope that header fitment will somehow be the same and the catless headers for the FA24D will have larger runners making for great SC FA20 headers.lol

I’m confused, they didn’t rev it all the way out? Also, if that 212PS is correct, that’s the exact same number Savagegeese got with the GR86.

According to the you tube Auto-(dodgy)translate, he hit the speed limiter. he seemed to be in 5th gear and speed limiter kicked in at 184kph indicated.

not sure why he couldn't just run in 4th like normal people.
