Just for the sake of clarity, I didn't have to grind off the lip on the block. I could have, but I instead decided to grind about 1/16" off the bottom of the bosses on the cooler plate. It fits like a glove. I have driven 1500+ miles in the last 3 days, and everything is holding fine. Oil temps are brilliant! I love this mod!

Thats good info to know. If i ever need to do it again, I'll use the derale cooling plate. The money savings is enough of an incentive.

Make sure your fittings are tight. For some reason mine backed out and I sprayed oil all over my car on the interstate...

External mount anyone?

Edit: Found some hose that may make it even cheaper:

Parker Push-lok 801

It's cheap and exceeds what we need for our oil cooler needs. Also comes in many different colors (Grey, Blue, Black, Red, Yellow, and Green). Can be found online(Link) or at any hydraulic supply store (Hyspeco is local to me).

Here is the official link:

I went with Aeroquip pushlock hose and fittings. So far I have driven from LA to Nashville, TN without incident.

I'm sort of concerned. Mine went on fairly easy, or at least easier than I expected. Everything I read made it seem like a pain to install the fittings in the hose. Hoping mine don't fail.

Good to note, the 27mm socket for the oil filter adapter needs to be thin walled or it will not allow you to torque the bolt properly(for the mocal sandwich plate). I'm still unsure of how tight/loose the sandwich adapter is because of this issue.

Intercooler that is included in the Speed By Design Turbo kit.

Everything was a pretty tight fit:

@mit_peid I completely forgot to mention that I found a solution to the Derale problem. Just use the oil filter for a 1990-1995 Chevy Corvette ZR-1. K&N Part# HP-2007. The o-ring fits the landing perfectly. It's over-sized with more filter media for better filtration, it holds more oil than stock, and it has the same bleed back valve and pressure bypass as stock. All good news!

Ever get a chance to take a picture of your setup? Did you end up using that plate?

Hows it all going so far?

dumb question, not sure if it's been answered, I saw the post shaving the hex nut off to rotate the sandwhich. Has any tried this with a low profile oil filler cap? I have a kraftwerks kit so I can't really push the hoses out or angled towards the front it needs to go out the side over the filler cap...

Anyone know if the spacer can be purchased on it's own without the sandwich plate

Bumping an old thread, but I also have questions about the spacer. I noticed all of the oil cooler kits use some sort of spacer, is it just meant to add clearance for the oil lines? If I'm already using the OEM Forester oil cooler can I continue using that to warm the oil faster and just mount the sandwich adapter to Forester oil cooler, not using the spacer? Does it make sense to do this, or too convoluted, pull the Forester cooler? 185F is kind of low to have the oil cooler functioning anyways, continuing to warm the oil with coolant doesn't sound too bad.
