Anyone know if the larger OEM Subaru chrome tips will bolt on without cutting?

Yup, if you can get a hold of them they'll just slip right on like the stock US pair.

Get a set of bolt remover drill bits from Sears and it should come out no problem. I've had to use them before with a bolt that snapped off on my '02 WRX. Worked like a charm.

Very sweet, I'm psyched that it's such an easy mod. Can somebody confirm that "Tail Pipe Cutter" is just poor engrish translation for Tail Pipe COVER? I would hate to order and receive a big pair of scissors or something, lol.

I had my stupid bolts break just like skoodge's, will have to get a drill and extractor bit from the shop tomorrow.. ugh just annoying. They didn't use stainless bolts on the exhaust and they seize up EASY.

That sucks to hear, man. Mine came off with an adjustable wrench without any real issues (a bit seized, but just kept gradually increasing the pressure I applied). I was at first unsure as to how they were attached to exhaust pipe and scratched it up during removal, but then figured it really won't matter at all since they're being covered back up anyway :P

Yeah, what pisses me off about it is.. this car is a little over two weeks old. The fact that I'm already able to break bolt heads is stupid, they couldn't have used stainless bolts for those... meh.

mine came off with ease. almost finger loose to be begin with. the fact they broke is because they are a very low grade bolt not meant to be heated that hot, so word of advice....stop beating up your baby so hard lol i j/k

Recently finished installing temporary tips to replace the yucky factory ones. Here are a couple quick pics:

You may be able to tell from the pics that the tips aren't quite centered evenly...I'll try to adjust it a bit but it just might be impossible to get them perfect. If you are somewhat OCD like me you might not be happy...but as a temp fix I think this is pretty good over stock.

I installed DC Sports tips which I THINK are model EX-1013. I say "I THINK" because I found that many of the DC Sports tips were mislabeled. Numerous cases in different stores of these tips with identical labels but clearly different parts. SO if you do go this route make sure to carefully examine the tips to make sure they match (and are the correct specs).

Here's a pic of the label (again though, this might not actually be the EX-1013 because I found multiple others with the identical EX-1013 label that look different):

This is what the inside looks like...the other EX-1013 I tried out (and returned because it didn't fit as well) had a larger diameter middle-opening:

Here is a pic showing one of the bolts...you can see this version has nuts affixed to the tip...the EX-1013 I returned that didn't fit as well and was less secure didn't have these nuts at all. So that's one thing to look for...you probably want the nut:

I found this brand of tips for sale at both Pep Boys and Advance Auto Parts. Let me know if you have questions.

[Also, I had no problem at all removing the bolts on the factory tips. I'd advise using a ratchet to make sure you are turning the right way, since maybe that's why people had issues! ]

Here are a few pics of the JDM exhaust tips compared to the aftermarket tips I had installed.
