Also do you think the dealer is going to call your insurance and tell them they disabled your DRLs? |

Also, you will supposedly be able to get the car to honk once locked, the awful seatbelt buzzer when you place a phone in the seat :p and some other stuff. I forgot what else. A lot of people like the way it looks off. I know I do because my tinted headlights make the light look dull. Wont be able to change that until I get some LED DRL. |

Since you can't do it yourself, its going to be hard to deny you did it. On my 2000 Astro, you could disable them by hitting the internal courtesy light on/off button 5 times. It automatically came back on next time the car was turned off, with no registration in the computer. |

What do you mean by open a case? You have to first justify why you want DRL turned off before they are willing to order a new ECU for you?

When I call around for insurance they ask based off a checklist what safety features the car has, not whether they are actually activated or not. Now when it comes time to renew and if they ask again...that's a different story. But that only happens when you change companies, so again, moot. Principle. I can't speak for you, but I feel I am capable of making the decisions for my car, not the other way around. Forcing the compressor on when you use defrost is another pet peeve of mine, and always gets reprogrammed out of my A/C systems in my cars so I retain the option of using the compressor or not. Yes obviously the car defogs/defrosts faster with the comp on, but again it's the principle. |

Lol I just removed the fuse..... too much work to take it to the dealer and have them install and flash stuff and buy a new ECU when you can just remove the fuse in 3 seconds.

Its free. And it doesnt just fix the DRLs. You can get them to get the car to honk when you lock it, fix the sensitive airbag sensor that goes off with a phone in the passenger seat, and a few other things I believe.

I thought it was determined that removing the fuse kills your high beams too?

For me, its a matter of integrity, not worry. If I'm going to turn them off, I would not claim the discount. Everyone else can make their own decisions. Frankly, I find them annoying as well, particularly since you can't turn them off manually if you need to for some reason. All other cars I've owned there was a way to turn them off, at least temporarily. Last edited by Dadhawk; 07-18-2012 at 11:20 AM. Reason: speiling, ugh spelling. |
