Not that I don't believe you but still can't understand why Scion would volunteer to do this on their own dime. Its not like this is a safety recall or something .

kind of shocking to me too, but i printed out the TSB last week. The newer fr-s will have this ecm from the factory, so it only effects a certain vin range of the early production fr-s. from my experience, toyota always stands behind their products and customer satisfaction. (thats why we still are replacing frames on old tundras that rotted out, toyota carries a good name and stands behind their product, even though it is not a safety concern, more so of a "update" the early production cars did not get)
other options being the car finder feature, seatbelt buzzer turn off and theres probably a couple im missing. once mine comes in ill take some pics, grab a copy of the TSB and post it up for you guys. |

Does the FR-S use the DLC2 connector type? I have access to TechStream, I may play around and see what the FR-S can have enabled!

It isn't a legal requirement, but it might be part of the safety package which gets you a discount on your insurance premium.

So, since I don't want to give up my insurance discount for having DRL, is there any advantage to getting the new ECU other than this one change?
Also, (and not hating, just curious) what's the driving force for wanting to turn them off? |
