If you're going to track and daily your car, there is no real compromise. You will need a set of daily pads, and a set of track pads.

Ditto

I swap out tires and XP10 for track then swap back to OEM tires/pads when I get home. I am still on the original OEM pads after 45k miles. I run OEM rotors for the track and DD Stoptech slotted rotors.

In my experience, you will have a day or 2 after the track where the XP10 will be quiet on regular roads.

I run XP10’s with SRF, I don’t daily the car so the pads stay in all the time.

I feel the same about my G-Loc R10's (the guys that started Carbotech left and started G-Loc, pads are basically identical). I feel like once they're up to temperature it's completely unpredictable how much they're going to bite. Some times they have tons, other times not at all.

I had project mu club racers before this and they were much more consistent.

As for daily driving them, it's not *that* bad. Dust is about the same as the club racers, or even ferodo DS2500's. They're not quiet, but meh.

I used XP10s when I first put on my AP kit because the previous owner threw them in with the deal. Did not care for them one bit. Managed to smear them, even on the BBK. Pedal feel was terrible. Needed so much pedal pressure to get the stopping power I wanted. Had the same experience on our C7 Z51 with XP12F/XP10R.

Maybe I'm just used to high-bite pads. I'm sticking with Cobalt XR2s.

Edit: the one saving grace of that whole deal was that I used a much more aggressive pad on the rears (XR2s). It was an entertaining experience with lots of trail braking rotation.

I have that issue too. I have a great route to bed them on and I have been really trying to focus on making better use of my brakes. This is still regularly what they end up looking like at the end of the day.

I am with Humfrs first post. Since OP is asking this question I would assume this is his first trip to the track. As such the chances of cooking the brakes is very minimal.

Not on this car, but from personal experience, I would steer clear of both.

It appears you are using your brakes quite aggressively, if you're interested in finding something quite a bit more effective for track application for intermediate and advanced drivers, you'll definitely need to step up the compound by a few levels. Let us know if you have any questions.

Cobalt XR2s are definitely good for those on the intermediate level. The drop-off we have experienced with the pad is discovered when you push the envelop of pace on lower thermal capacity systems. What you experienced with the Carbotech is a natural progression of pace on that specific application. C7Z51 is absolutely crushing on brakes. Our setup on Vettes is drastically different from the BRZ. Likewise, the F8X M3/M4, GTR, and 488 need to have fairly tailored pad systems to work well. Whether you have a BBK or not, the pad is the friction material doing the work. If the friction material can't keep up with the abuse, then the brakes will not perform optimally.

What tire will you be using for autocross? Do you have the Brembos or the standard calipers?

I am interested in the C2's. Last time I looked they were not in stock for the ST40 caliper.
