Will this fit? (width, offset and tire size Qs)

Considering 17x9 ET42 ARC-8 wheels - seen a few references in this thread and elsewhere, but I am worried about inner clearance when trying to get -3.3 to -3.5 camber with this spec...

I'm currently running stock wheels with RCE Yellow springs and a combination of camber bolts and Velox camber plates to get about -3.3 camber up front (gives approx even tire wear for mostly track use).

How much camber can you add with bolts before running into clearance problems on the stock size springs/perch with 17x9 ET42 and 245/40-17 tires? (probably SX2s)...

I'll try to measure my current clearance this weekend - thought I'd ask for now..

Hoping I can get a little help. I think I’ve decided to go with an 18x8 +45 in the front and 18x9 +42 in the rear and am trying to figure out what tires to go with. I am thinking of going with MPSS’s, but am unsure of tire size. I’d like to go with some fairly wide tires, I was thinking 245/35 in the rear, and something that would match that for the fronts. I am losers on TRD spring. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

I have the same springs and wheel specs. Ive had 245/35 front and rear. Then 225/40 front and 245/35 rear. And now 215/40 front and 245/35 rear.

If you want a square tire setup, get 225/40s. Don't put a 245/35 on an 8" wheel. It was pinched a bit and made the steering heavy, numb even.

235/40 is tall and will look funny next to a 245/35.

So, I guess I'd say get 215/40 or 225/40 front and 225/40 or 245/35 rears.

I think that 215/40 and 225/40 is what is on the staggered TRD split 5 spoke 18x7 and 18x7.5 wheels. This would work well. MPSS makes all the suggested sizes.

Thanks! I think I’m going to go with the 225/40 in front and 245/35 in the rear. Looks like you have the Konig Oversteer’s, which are the wheels I’m looking at. Any change you know the size of the center cap?

Im now running 10mm front and 5mm rear spacers. Not sure the exact center cap size, why do you want to know? they are domed slighty and have the konig logo.

Ive had 3 sets of konigs, the older models ( in tbe 90s) had clear coat issues. My Oversteers still look good!!!

My plan is to get them mounted and see if spacers need to be added. I might want to do a Toyota center cap, so I’m trying to find the size.

2 and 5/8 is the center cap size. It looks like you could pry the Konig logo off and replace it with the correct size round Toyota sticker or logo if you wanted.

245/40 iirc are much closer to oem wheels rotation, you could probably fit 255 if you really wanted to

Since noone seems to answer you, I can try to help. I run 17x9 +35 on my track wheels and alignment is -3.8 neg camber. A 255 tire (R888R) is the widest I've fit and I can barely pass a credit card between the tire and strut but 245 tires had about 5mm clearance. Considering your wheels have 7mm less inner clearance to the spring but you are running a less wide tire, I'd say it will fit with the camber you want. Its going to be tight, but should fit (im assuming you are running coilovers with relatively narrow spring diameter, meaning linear springs not progressive like some coilovers have).

Edit: just saw you say you have RCE yellows, on stock shocks, so Im not sure its going to fit with that much camber after all then. Maybe at -3 it will fit, but not much more past that.

Ok so i have a fitment question, i have a set of continental extreme contact dsw 06 in 235/45. Ive wanted some ambit re02 however they don't have an 18x9.5 config in gloss black and buying a set in another color and painting/powder coating is going to cost as much as a good set of wheels so im leaning towards just pulling the trigger on the some matte gunmetal enkei rs05rr's

Ive done a little research and ive seen a staggered set up of 18x8.5 42mm wrapped in 225/35 i believe in the front and 18x9.5 43mm in 235/40 in the rear is fine on stock suspension (ill be on eibach sportlines with stock struts) however since i have a set of 235s all around would I be able to get away with the 18x9.5 in the front or will it require spacers or will i be limited to 18x8.5s untill i have coilovers again?

If i would need spacers for the 18x9.5, what size exactly and would the wheels still be flush or will they poke?

P. S. My tires arrive tomorrow so i think i could exchange 2 for 225s if i have to depending on tireracks exchange and return policy or just put them on my current wheels if i can't seem find the right set up for those wheels

It's just butts to nuts in 245 flavor, Compared to 35 or 45 ratio
