I was thinking a 245/40R17 on a 17x8 ET35 wheel on all 4 corners. Bridgestone says the RE71R in that size is fine on 8.0-9.5" rim widths, so I'm curious if running it on a wider (and heavier) 9" rim would gain me anything.
17s are great. There is a good selection of lightweight wheels to choose from. Though 17x8.5 is extremely rare, which basically forces you to either choose 17x8 or 17x9. Weight is not that different between some 17x8 and 17x9s.

I dont know which wheels fit with a BBK. 245/40 is better on a 9" wheel than an 8", additionally you can go up to a 255/40 in the future if you want.

I mean you cant go wrong with RPF1s, Wedssports tc105n, Arc-8, just to name a few...

A slightly stretched tire, like a 245/40 on a 9" wheel, has less flex and is more responsive.
