Max tire size with 18x8" +35 wheels?

Hey guys - I'm curious if a 255/35R18 tire will work on an 18*8 +35 offset rim without rubbing?

Would like to run at all 4 corners using the stock suspension.

Due to rim/tire size issues or rubbing/interference?

I now have and would suggest 225/40/18 on 18x8 +35. I was using a 245/35/18s, but they made the steering heavy and mushy. Additionally, they fit under my fender because my wheels were +45 before I added a 10mm spacer.

225/40 is the perfect size for an 18x8. It adds a little width & height while keeping the steering feel precise.

IMO, A 255/35 will be pinched on an 18x8, look terrible, handle worse and probably rub. My rear is a 18x9 with 245/35/18. A 255/35/18 goes on a 18x9.5 wheel.

I should have qualified all this by saying my car is essentially going to be a track-day toy, that I drive to and from the track and a bit on weekends. I'm also boosted running about 320HP at the crank.

Right now I have the stock suspension, but will likely be installing coil-overs and big brakes before the summer is over.

For coil-overs I was thinking something higher end and on the brakes, maybe the Wilwood kit front & rear.

On that note, if anyone is aware of someone who has either for sale please feel free to put us in touch.

100% Still 225/40. Or get wider wheels. More tire on the wrong wheel won't be better.

Thanks for the help-

OK - so I think I'm going to buy some wider rims then, as I think I'm going to need more meat on the road than 225's will give.

If I want to run a 255/35R18 square setup, that would mean 18x9.5" rims all around. Am I going to run into rubbing/interference issues doing this with the stock suspension?

Any recommendations on wheel offset?

No reason to run 18's unless you like the way it looks. Usually around a +35 offset. This will give you room to run bbk in the future.

If you are running 255 on stock suspension the tire starts to get too close to the strut. 245's on +38 offset were only about 1/4-3/8's away from the spring perch of the strut on my car. That is getting too close when you are going out on low tire pressure those first sessions in the morning.

That would be over an inch taller then stock. 245/35/18 would be a lot closer to stock diameter.

Does anyone know if the Wilwood big brake kit will fit inside a 17x8" rim like the Fast FC04? Thinking about going that route and running 245/40R18 RE-71R's.

Turbo: most aftermarket brake vendors provide brake fitment templates. You can try send those to wheel shop to check or if you already have wheels, print it out, glue on carton, cut out, and check clearance yourself.

What are your thoughts on max tire size if I go down to a 17" rim? I like the idea of wheels that are a bit lighter and R-compound rubber that's a bit cheaper.

I was thinking a 245/40R17 on a 17x8 ET35 wheel on all 4 corners. Bridgestone says the RE71R in that size is fine on 8.0-9.5" rim widths, so I'm curious if running it on a wider (and heavier) 9" rim would gain me anything.
