Your own staggered setup had the wheels rotating at different rates. I'm surprised the nannies didn't complain about them.
The nannies are happiest when all 4 wheels have the same butthole size.

Update: I got new tires on my wheels and mounted them. No problems so far and its been about 3 days. No CEL's and no random times of my MPH falling to zero. Looks like those wheels were the whole problem. Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions!
