I also have the issue. It appeared after installing Tein Street Basis Z coilovers.
It doesn't always happen, but very annoying not knowing how to fix it. It seemed like the end links were fine, but I will check mine to see if it could be the cause. Top hats in the front appear to be tight. Have not checked rears, but the sound appears to be front 99% of the time or even 100% maybe.

Mine have been doing that since day 1 and it has been 4 and half years. I used to work at Toyota and they never found what is causing the problem.
