Unhappy Clunking sound coming from suspension

Hi guys,

i have recently found myself in quite a pickle. A few weeks after swapping to a coilover kit, a certain clunking noise started surfacing. At first I attributed it that it might be a bad endlink or something, but things were not that simple as it turns out.

The sound only occurs when turning and going over uneven terrain. I also have recently installed a Cusco LCA for camber adjustment, but I doubt that would be the root of the problem since the sound occurs in the front as well. I am hoping someone with a little experience on this would chime in on this issue.

I have brought it back to the dealer who sold me the coilover kit and they've been really kind to follow me through to try and solve this issue however they could not pinpoint the problem as well.

Here's a video of the sound, to better describe the situation.

Any help or suggestion would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks

Pop the bonnet open, and have someone turn the steering wheel from lock-to-lock, whilst you listen for any sounds coming from the front suspension. If you can replicate the sound this way while stationary, chances are your top nut was not torqued correctly.

Sounds like a submarine! Which means metal on metal somewhere.

These things can help sometimes...

this is the exact same thing my car sounds like. for a week every little bump I had a very loud and annoying metal clinging and clanking noise. Sounded like a rock got shoved up in one of the under panels, so I made a left turn and something fell out and then my noise was gone. In defense, I do believe it was a rock because it rained heavy and I drove over a washed pile of dirt and rocks after the rain. and I never had that problem before that. But now every time I turn left, there is a thump thug noise. Does not occur when at a stand still and I spin the wheel. Only when i drive and make left turns only... I have no idea what it could be. Only suspension mod I have is trd sway bars, and that was installed months ago and no issues until now.

Yes indeed it does! Haha! What a way to put it.

Well, I've removed them and replaced with the stock set. The mechanic can't diagnose what's the issue either. Going to wait for a replacement set.

After about 3000 miles on my coilovers a similar noise surfaced, I went in and tightened every suspension bolt up in the front of the car, even the subframe. Noise still persisted. For whatever reason was going on in my head at the time I greased up the rubber where the spring itself sits, and the bushing for the sway bar. Noise vanished. I live in a super dry climate and blame it on that. It has started to surface again, we've been having a lot of 100+ degree days so I'll get out a little grease and repeat.

Perhaps this can help your issue if you can't find any loose hardware

Its the top nut which holds the spring and strut assembly together. The top hat is the actual top piece of the strut.
