I have the Gruppe-S header and love it. It sounded great with the stock exhaust. Then just get some exhaust tips (Vibrant 1207) and have them welded on the muffler for $30 and you are done!

Nice. I may go this route. Why the tips though? Just for looks?

I would retain stock front and overpipe (they cut down on volume and rasp big time), go with a UEL header, and a quieter catback. I found that I couldn't feel any rumble from the Q300 -- You would have to step up to the Perrin 2.5 resonated.

Either way, if at all possible, go jump in some other folks cars. You can read reviews all day and night to try and make a decision... only to put the recommended exhaust on your car and hate it within 5 seconds. It'll save you tons of money to try out as much as you can first.

My 2c: UEL header (gruppe-s, tomei, OFH, etc) with stock front/overpipe and GreddySp-Elite, Perrin 2.5 resonated, or Top Speed Pro-1 (if you can find it). You'll gain rumble that you can feel in the cabin, without much drone (you'll have a little bit on highway... but you can't have rumble at some RPM when cruising, but not at the same RPM on highway).

Good suggestions on the brands and etc. unfortunately where I live I drive the only 86 in probably like a 60 mile radius so I never get to hear other setups.

100% purely for looks. It's what I did since I wasn't a fan of the small tips. Just thought I'd put the thought out there for you or whoever else reads this thread.

I made a video of a few different setups as I was going mods (header only, header and muffler delete, and header with Perrin 2.5" resonated), just haven't posted it. Once I do, I'll send you the link and post it here.

I was purely curious. I'm not super knowledgeable on exhausts. You could probably tell me the tips add HP and I'd believe you. Ok maybe not that bad but you get the idea 😜

You want some rumble? Get any decent quality UEL ( I choose Tomei), and a single exit catback. Part of the classic Subaru rumble deep tone is made from a single exit exhaust in my opinion as my Greddy Revolution RS is much deeper than any 86 I've heard in my area.

Be prepared for it to be LOUD though, If you have sensitive baby ears then disregard everything I just said

Gruppe S is the best value in UEL headers, (Borla is junk.) Tomei is quality. JDL is ideal.

Don't forget to refill your blinker fluid after swapping out parts. Always throws CEL :P

+1 Rumble and quality JDL UEL. It doesn't have the "peak" HP/TQ that an EL has, but you're going to hear the rumble more then use the peak power advantages that a EL has, I paired mine with the INVIDIA Q300, after about 5k miles the sound is amazing and has a lovely pop from WOT upshifts and rev match downshifts.

For JDL UEL.

Great fitment and Quality, and it rumble all day!!

Just make sure you dont get a loud catback. and keep the oem Front pipe + Over pipe, not much gain for the money changing out those.

To me I actually like the single exit look on our cars. It's a step away from the boring normal that everyone does *cough* Invidia N1 *cough* but it isn't for everyone.

There are a few of these to block the open cutout for people who feel it's necessary http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/ft-8...l#.WPpUElMrIUE

Also I hear you on the neighbors. Every time I cold start my car in the morning I can feel them looking at me in disgust out their windows haha.
