Nothing wrong with that at all. If they do what you're looking for, then why invest in something with different characteristics you won't be using? People tend to pooh-pooh the OEM tires because their ultimate performance threshold is a bit lower than the rest of the chassis, but they do make for a more entertaining/engaging ride on the street. Run 'em till they're bald, then shop for replacements based on what you did or didn't like about the OEMs.

This.

I probably won't do trackdays, but I will spend almost all my free time on backroads. Once I got through the stocks I went to 18x8 Nurburgrings and 225/40 Indy500s. I can't even tell you how much better absolutely everything is.

I know the rally cry is "literally is anything is better than stock", so I don't know whether the bigger performance bump is from the tires or wheels. But I can tell you that when put together, they are amazing.

Right after I got them installed I ran off to do a test. 250 miles of highway and backroads/twisty driving.

After my little 250-mi test, I was borderline giddy with how these tires performed. Less road noise (to my ear anyway), smoother rolling (if not a softer ride), smoother off the line, tremendous grip through corners, pretty kick-ass tread design, and less than $600 installed. Good deal, boss.

My vote: Indy500s and, if you've got the dough, wider wheels. Good luck and have fun!

I just installed a set of BFG G-FORCE COMP-2 A/S on mine, so I'm quite happy with. Serious improvement in grip and handling over the factory Primacy HP's that were on it before.

I just put on a set of 225/45/17 Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my car! I am super excited go give those a go. I was able to purchase my car equipped with winter tires, so I was able to bypass the Primacy HP's!

Those are what I am going with when it is time for new tires. Have heard nothing but good about them.

They're amazing.

But I got quote 1100 for MPSS

Compare to Indy500 is 730 in the same size.

My pocket is tight

Great to hear the positive feedback.

What PSI did you run them at?

It looks like the PSS will be phased out over the summer. The new Pilot Sport 4S has just been released but is not yet available in 17" and 18" sizes. Tire Rack looks to be clearing out inventory on the PSS, so you can get them for a great price if you need them now.

I contacted Michelin and they said it would be at least a year before 17's started making it into production.

That's disappointing. I was hoping to put those on a new set of 17x9 wheels this summer.

Yeah, I'm pretty in love with these things. Of course I've put less than 500 miles on them so far. But with all the reviews and the comparison that Tirerack did, I'm confident.

Right now all four are at 32. Might bump it to 35-36 just to see if that makes any difference. Probably won't be a noticeable one.
