Tire recommendation help
I tried searching for my answer but there seems to be different opinions.
I'm trying to figure out the right tires for my 18.8.5 +32 lowered on RCE yellow springs. Just a DD, no track I know the 3 options are 225/40/18 (I believe this stretches alittle) 235/40/18 245/40/18 Which one would you guys recommend? Thanks for your time and help! |

It really matters on how you like the look of how the tire sits. 235 would be the best imo.

245/35/18 will sit square on the 18x8.5 and be the same OD (outside Diameter) as the stock tires. This keeps the speedo accurate.
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88804 Here is a link to a car that has RCE yellows and 18x8.5 +35 (3mm sunk in compared to your wheels) and 235/40/tires. After seeing this I would either get 225/40 or 245/35. Depending on if you want a slight stretch or not. Thread shows 18x8.5 with 225/40 http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65630 You will need camber bolts. (you actually can install two sets, top and bottom, to get more camber if you need it) Plus, the bolts are cheap. All the sizes you listed have a bigger OD. Stock OD =24.62" 245/35/18=24.75" 225/40/18=25.09" 235/40/18=25.4" Tire weights: MPSS tires, specs from TireRack 215/45/17=21lbs 245/35/18=23lbs 225/40/18=22lbs 235/40/18=23lbs Tire calc. It helps! http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.do |
