BFG offered contingency for the Pro. Bridgestone didn't.
Haha, just bustin' balls.

I've got the same dilemma, I like the RE-71Rs on my Fuckus, but BFG offers contingency... and the v1.5 is looking good. The v1 drove like absolute crap, IMO...

With your last note, are you planning on running CS all year or considering bumping down to DS?

FWIW, I think part of the 60ft gap was the tires. I ran the Rival S (1.0) on my STU 350Z and noticed they didn't launch or brake as well as the Stones. Their strength was in lateral grip and allowable slip-angle. The 1.5's still have the lateral grip and have closed the gap on transitions vs the Stones.

I was able to stay in the top of the tach with second gear on that course and only spent a little time on the limiter. That had to put the ND's in a tight spot with their gearing.

They probably had an advantage in the transitions, and they seem to have put some time on me at launch, but rowing the gears can be a real PITA and I think that's where they were stuck.

A little OT but another data point for people considering removing the TRD parts:

I drove a well-prepped DS FR-S on our local test and tune track and paxed my TRD car with a single run. Not by much, but I did 6 runs in my car before the DS run. Me vs Me, I can't cover the DS pax with my CS twin.

Which size BFG's did you go with?

The plan is to stay in CS. If I consider DS, it will probably be as a tire-warmer.

BFG's contingency is a little better than Bridgestone for the Tours, but am still not sure which tire I'm running at Dixie. I prefer the feel of the RE71's compared to the BFG's.

I brought the 1.5's and the RE71's to Dixie and got the same time on test and tune with both tires. When I saw that we were running first heat in the cold, the Bridgstones were an easy choice.

Great job again! It looks like you coned your fast run today but still held on? I would have gone with the Bridgestone too since you had to clean the course for everyone

Is your car at full prep for CS?

Thanks! I'm running OTS Koni singles that I think are a bit under-damped for the TRD springs, but it's otherwise fully prepped.

What were the courses/conditions like at Dixie? Looks like the WRX took DS by 8/10ths.

So I just got into a 2017 BRZ-PP and have a Spec-D Tuning Catback Exhaust (the neighbor's are big fans) and a set of Enkei RPF1's 17x7.5 (having to use 5mm spacers to clear brembo's) with BFG Rival S 1.5 245/40/17 (probably too wide but I wanted to try out the new BFG -there was no 235 option- and get as much out of the extra half inch on the wheels as i could).

Does anyone know of any front bar upgrades or brake pads that autocrossers have been successful with in the 17 PP? Or is this a time where progress requires experimentation?

Same as any other car for the front bar. I use the common Whiteline 20mm on my 2017 BRZ, used the same one on my 2013 FRS. Brake pads are kind of personal preference. I've used Hawk HPS on both my twins (and other cars) and also like Ferodo which I use on my BMW (DS2500). Good street/autox pads, not great for track (BMW has Hawk DTC60's for track).

EDIT: I should mention that front bar is used for STX classed autocross, but stock class guys use the same thing usually.

Any pics of the wheel mounted, how much do they poke with the spacers? I haven't much information on wheel figments for the PP cars. I'm planning on going with a different size tire I really like those wheels.

Day one course was a PITA shifting nightmare. Three 180's with two of them creating tough diggs on exit. (I needed first gear out of one of them). The WRX had an advantage on at least two of those exits, but they had to have issues making it through the tightest one.

Day two was better for the WRX. The launch was long and straight so they probably started 3-5 tenths ahead of the pack.
