You should try the new v117 maps I've posted. They have static 20% port injection at WOT instead of 100% direct injection. Unknown if they will make as much jam, but should be safer for the intake valves.

I'm planning on running E85 in my car from next week onwards and I just had a few questions.
I have an Openflash Tablet and a Tomei Header so the process should be pretty simple. 1. I just changed my oil with Toyota OW20 a week ago. Is it a huge issue to run E85 with this oil for the forseeable future? 2. Are there any issues or snags I should look out for? Parts that will wear faster? |

Thanks for all the information Steve. I switched to e85 this week and this thread made it possible. Now imttrying to decide whether or not to remove power blocks. Lol

yeah the block will shift the powerband down 500-1000 rpm to around 6000-6500, but E85 tunes generally make power over that band. Its not going to cause any harm, you will just be a few hp down over 6500. But you will likely have a more usable powerband for street driving. |

Hey everyone,
After months of lurking and anticipation, I finally switched to E85!! Buuut... now I seem to be having a little trouble. I followed all the directions on the first post of this thread. I filled up about 20 miles after the low fuel light came on at a Shell station that claimed a minimum of 70% ethanol content. Tonight, after 110 miles of driving on the e85 tune on my stock BRZ, I started hearing louder throttle noise than usual... Sounds like rapid tapping/hitting (knock?), it starts at about 2300 rpm and goes away just past 3000. When I turned off the car after this trip, it shook quite a bit. Please tell me this isn't bad news... Other concerns are that having swapped from the OTS 93 octane tune, I have found the car to be less smooth overall... The 93 tune really improved taking off from a stop on first, but on E85, it feels like the car is more prone to jitter at very low speeds on first. It's better than stock, but worse than the 93 oct tune. Acceleration also doesn't feel as smooth as the 93 tune did. Judging by everyone's impressions, none of this is normal... or is it? If anyone could please help me out I'd really appreciate it. ![]() Here is a log after my first 15 miles on e85. Unfortunately I did not have my OFT with me when I felt the noise today. Did you watch fuel trims before switching to e85 tune? Sounds to me like its still burning some 93 off.

Thanks for your response. That's one of my guesses too, although when I filled up, the needle was just underneath the E line. The other guess would be that it learned 93 and is now hitting E85 and has to learn that. I watched them for a while and after about 3 miles my stft started rising higher and higher. Then quickly going back down. A few minutes later my ltft started to hold at around 2, then 4. It remained like this for a couple more miles, so I stopped and flashed, since for the first 3 it mostly held around 0.
