Nannies will do the same. I doubt they'll have the courage to promote driving without them.

They should have. LeBlanc isn't a bad choice it's just that car shows cannot succeed without excellent writing to back them up, if the writing is sub-par it doesn't matter who is presenting it (there were some pretty big whiffs on the Grand Tour). He'll do just fine and the last promo I saw with him Harris and Reid showcased spectacular chemistry between the three, which is probably the #2 most important thing for their show to succeed.

The only reviewer I care for on YouTube is Mr. Regular (since Harris hit the big time anyway), but that's because I've got a soft spot for literary cultural studies nerd. Farah isn't bad but I think that may be too many one-takes dulling his wit over the past couple of years at this point I only watch maybe 1/5 of his. Realistically they already grabbed the biggest YouTube car reviewer with Harris.

Agree to disagree, you can't drive an 86 fast with TC on, maybe track mode on the '17 is better but I doubt it. People forget that at least on old TG they put Ben Collins shotgun for 5 laps to coach the drivers. There will be a group of 'stars' who can and will do their lap with it off, hell I bet it will be a talking point in the interview.

Sure realistically speaking, old TG only got one or two guests who could drive a season at best, but what kind of motoring show would it be if the guests couldn't run without traction control?

Hell, they'd probably disable it by default for the b-roll of them spinning and going off course. None of the other cars showed evidence of having traction control intervene and they got pretty damn out of shape.

It's much better on the 17. You can even get a bit of tail action with everything on.

If selection of the GT86 signal's the continued move of Top Gear for gearheads while leaving Grand Tour to those wanting mediocre sketch comedy, I'll take it. Been saying for the longest now that Top Gear is at its' best when the show is about cars and not contrived poorly written comedy challenges and reality TV that the old TG had become.

TGs major differentiator is that nearly all of their hosts can actually drive. So ill take more of their insights about cars and will enjoy watching them drive the wheels off our beloved 86.

I've stopped watching every other car reviewer on youtube and only stick with Regular Car Reviews now. Every once in a while, I'll watch One Takes but only if the cars seem interesting.

Don't know why, Mr. Regular does something unique and keeps me interested with how he presents the car. Other channels, same recycled shit.

I used to watch RCR a lot more than I do now. He's fun until you realize he actually is wrong about a lot of the things he talks about.

His Ford Ranger video was just the worst. He claimed it was pretty much a Ford Taurus with a pickup bed. That's insane and blatantly wrong.

I've seen a handful of videos from him where he's talking about a car with 100-200k miles on it and mentions how unreliable it is because of all the repairs that the owner had to do. When he lists these repairs, it's normally basic stuff that any car would need with that high mileage.

It's like listening to a kid who's into cars, but doesn't have enough experience with cars yet to really have anything to say.

He's great when he's talking about how a car feels and how it relates to the time in which it came out, but he's horrible when he's actually talking about the car itself.

One of his more recent videos showed a car with the battery placed under a brace in the engine compartment. He says this must be proof that the car was designed to just be a "throw away" vehicle. For God's sake, turn a wrench and shut up.

Clarkson is total garbage with the technical stuff and he gets hero worshipped.

Nobody should watch Mr. Regular for the technical stuff just like you don't watch Clarkson to learn how the latest Ferrari works beyond "it has an electric motor in it powering the front wheels with wizardry"

Mr. Regular is lit nerd cultural studies with a high probability of a 4 minute history lecture in the middle and some oddball internet humor tossed in.

And silly song parodies.

Having more exposure for the car is a good thing. The dummies still won't buy it because it's "too slow". No loss there.

Having seen the first episode of the "new Top Gear" the GT86 does have traction control on for the celebrity lap. It was a wet lap so maybe they leave it on when its anything but dry. Or it could be up to the celebrity or there is no option.
