So an alleged "engineer" that supposedly developed the Impreza platform is air quoted to say that any car that doesn't use that platform is in danger? Is that what I read there?

The Mazda thing is old news and was shot down as the 86 successor platform 3 years ago. The collaboration there is an electric/hybrid so let's hope it isn't the next gen!

This needs a dedicated sub-forum. We can design the next-gen 86 for them, since they seem to be clueless as to what it really needs to be.

This is one of the largest and most active forums for a specific model of a current production car on the internet and if you don't think they watch us closely for our thoughts you would be sadly mistaken.

But...

They spend millions to have well trained, experienced teams of marketing and design professionals determine what the car buying public as a whole is looking for. Because those results are not what a few individuals are after does not mean that they are "clueless".

If they built the car that half the people here seem to want then it would become even more of a niche vehicle and be out of the price range of most of the target demographic anyway. Ironic that you used the picture of the Homer to criticize them since that vehicle is exactly what would result if they followed all the wants stated on here and if you recall the Homer didn't sell a single unit.

They will continue to change the car towards what the majority will buy and if we don't like the result then we will just have to move onto something else.

I know they watch the forums. It's part of the reason why the 86 got the front end it did, and that's exactly why I used the Homer. I bet there is a search filter that sends a text alert whenever the word "aggressive" is used here. I wish they could resist that as well as they resist the cries for turbos and cup-holders.

I fully expect the next-gen to come out of the same styling studio the the Prius just did, and then the current 86 front end will be remarkably smooth, curvy and understated in comparison.

I have a problem sometimes with interrupting a conversation out of nowhere. But apparently, they make the best canola in the world a hour or two away from that spot. If tempura is your thing.

Well the closest place I could find to that dot is a place called Fort Liard.

Doesn't sound like a place I would hang out.
