If it helps, I hit a deer going 70 mph with no engine damage and it's repairable... you should be fine.

You didn't hear it from me, but Texas has been wanting to secede for a while. Since we have an abundance of deer, they've been experimenting with them making them able to run up to 80 mph and withstand America's most powerful firearms. I think he escaped from one of the facilities....

Nah. The actuaries have already forecast that accident. The rest of us have already paid for it before it happens.

File the claim. You're not taking money out of anybody's pocket. He did that himself. He damaged your car. It's his responsibility to make you whole. If he doesn't make you whole, he's taking money out of your pocket, and you're paying for his mistake (or driving a car with damage he caused).

If you had been at fault, you would be the one paying. This time it's his turn.

Every time any of us drive, we take the financial risk that we could be at fault for an accident and have to pay for damage we cause to someone else's property. We buy insurance to reduce (actually share) that financial risk. He has already paid for insurance for that purpose. Use it.

True but the actuaries study the accident data (and a bunch of other things of course) and determine the new rates as well. It is a vicious circle.

I got rear ended in my BRZ very slow speed bump zero paint damage, but 100% my crush foam got damaged I know that for sure.

So I called in the insurance claim for it, but never followed through with it before reselling the car to a dealership, stupid of my really but whatever.

Problem was they wanted to take off bumper to inspect and get a quote, but they only pay to take off the bumper and put it back on once.

All the parts need to be custom ordered so, unless you have insurance that gives you a car for awhile sucks. And expect to have your car in the shop for awhile while they get the parts to fix it.
