I'm not applying suspension principles to chassis design.
The chassis needs flex. If areas don't flex, other areas break. Carbon tubs have engineered flex points. |

It's fine. I'll mount an indicator on the fire wall and go for a drive and measure shock tower deflection. If it's less than .005", I'll be very surprised.

Tokay444: You have bushings & suspension for parts where movement/flex is needed "for things not to break", "for car to be more comfortable" and to keep grip un uneven road surfaces. In chassis however extra flex in most cases just rob you of control. Yes, it also may impact grip, but it's much better to get that grip with appropriate suspension changes, then with reducing chassis rigidity. There is reason why manufacturers always boast about strengthening chassis vs older generations as an achievement in PR materials whenever they stiffen up chassis with slight redesign or usage of stronger steel.

Oh yeah? Well I say that you DO get paid enough to argue about things that move less than the thickness of a sheet of paper! What do you say to that, huh?!

Also, strength doesn't always mean rigidity. |

Door flex is not the same as chassis flex. Doors are only a part of the chain. So check that tire. See if opening the doors makes it hit the ground. If it does then we know there's a lot of flex without the doors. I really wouldn't expect a big difference in our stiff little cars. Not sure what the Nm/deg is, but I imagine it's well north of 20k.

My understanding is that stiffness/rigidity is how little it bends/deflects for a given force, and strength is how much force it can take before breaking. We're talking about rigidity here.
