I almost want to just pull the trigger now beacuse with that sale + the refund i'm looking at a reliable Supercharger kit that has a good warranty (my car is new) for just over 4k. (after tax)

I didn't go wrong with my Vortech Kit.
Daily driven on E85 w/ 312whp(dynojet) red lining multiple times everyday. Bouncing off rev limiter.
The SC so far has lasted 100K miles and is still working optimal.
I have a Chevy/Mustang enthusiast engineering manager at my work. He basically said Vortechs usually outlast engines.

How is the transmission going any problems during that timespan? Do you run an aftermarket clutch?

Make sure you click the link at the bottom of that post, that's where you'll see the price.
I took some time to read the details this morning and apparently they had a manufacturing problem and some of the parts were machined or cast wrong and there's an offset to how the runners align to the manifold. They claim it does not impact the inner surfaces so it will not degrade performance. They did post detailed pictures of the issue.

What's the top end potential on an edelbrock without needing a new clutch or built internals?

I'd say 220-240 to the wheels without a clutch. Depends how you drive I'm sure it won't last too long. E85 I'm sure you'd hit 280 and up on the stock motor. How long it'll last depends on your tune, driving habits, and of course luck lol.

Those numbers are based on speculation from all the other information I've read.

Thanks, I admittedly drive spiritedly on an every other day basis at least. (45m commute with a good mix of 15m back roads and 30m highway).

Do you think that the clutch swap would be necessary over 240 regardless of SC kit?

I'm starting to lean more Vortech because of the top end potential I want... there's no E85 within 2.5h of me lol.

As far as i'm aware you can run 300 whp safley without immedietly switching out the clutch. It will just wear down quickly and then you just switch it out when you start getting issues.

I have heard that the Edelbrock can hit 300 whp on 91 but i'm not 100% sure on the validity of those statements. However the current price drop + rebate + warranty looks incredibly enticing to me right now.

Why are we all talking about clutches and horsepower instead of torque? It's torque that kills clutches - and the positive displacement superchargers can produce a lot more torque for a given peak whp output level - that's one big consideration. Example: A tuned intercooled innovate, or intercooled edelbrock on CARB tune will both produce probably 240-250whp peak on pump, but both will also produce close to 200 wtq for a good span of the rev range, with torque falling off in the upper ranges. A well tuned centrifugal unit like a vortech may produce around 280whp peak - sounds like a lot more but in reality it's at or under 200wtq for most of the power band.

Around 200wtq is probably the limit before you start having some issues - and also depends a lot on how abusive you are.

Apples to apples, a 280 whp positive displacement supercharger (or turbo) will likely kill the clutch a lot faster than a 280whp centrifugal supercharger. A tuned/optimized 280whp edelbrock unit will probably make the clutch suffer.

May as well post here since I've been debating between Edelbrock & JRSC but I don't plan to pull the trigger for another year or so.

I know that PD chargers make more wtq down low and that centrifugal type chargers make more top end whp...

So I'm just wondering is there any noticeable tq in a centrifugal type supercharger below 4.5k RPM? Does it pretty much feel like a NA engine? I like the fact that centrifugal makes more top end but will it still feel like there's a torque dip in the 3-4.5k RPM range?
