There should not be 1.5 to 2 inches of play in anything to do with any of the shafts under there though. Recipe for disaster.

Literally where you zoned into. The bushing located inside that bearing or whatever it is, is where all my play is located. If i can get a part name or number i would defintely be happy so i can hopefully get it picked up or ordered.

Totally agree. I'm assuming OP reached up, felt it, and being shocked by the play in the isolator, overestimated.

It's very soft and does have a dramatic amount of play for the uninitiated. Now, if the isolator is blown out or torn, yes. Otherwise, I might first consider a bent driveshaft.

Either way, I'm trying to talk him out of a one-piece.

If i could avoid buying a new driveshaft then that would be perfect. It mightve been an over exaggeration but it was definitely a noticeable play that i know for a fact is not normal either way. If it helps i was rear ended on the highway 4 months ago. First time i brought it back for the clicking they claimed i had something in my exhaust due to bottoming out. Now 4 months later it has gotten worse and it's 80% time i drive that i feel my driveshaft moving up ajd down actually vibrating the bottom of my car. Just now my drive home from work there was no rattle but that is only a 3 mile drive.

I'm guessing that your driveshaft was ever so slightly bent in the accident. Then while the isolator was doing its job, you didn't feel it.

Now that the constant cyclic load has worn/blown out the isolator, you're beginning to feel it as it hits that sweet spot of resonance.

I agree with Tcoat. Take it in and have the whole schmeer checked.

OK, I have a plan.

@Phothiraj crawl under your car and measure (in mm) the max play you can get that bearing assembly to move from one side to the other.

@Tcoat , you and @Ultramaroon do the same.

All three of you report your results and I will do an analysis.

Meanwhile, I will be taking a long, Saturday nap.

I'll check the results in about 3 hours ......

More importantly, does it feel about evenly springy no matter which way you push it, or does the driveshaft flop at all inside the isolator?

IOW, does it feel like the bearing has separated from the isolator?

22mm feels about ballpark to me. I've messed with mine some.

I can hardly get my arm under my car much less get close to the driveshaft so I have no clue how much play there should be. 22 doesn't sound to bad but there could be just enough wobble to bump.

That would seem to be too much ...... but, I have no frame of reference.

I suggest you get your car up on a rack, fire that puppy up and see if you can see the driveshaft wobbling.

Legit questions not flaming
Not exactly sure what the parts are called, but theyre changing the gear assembly. From what I understood they are two parts (saw the parts code) and i need to wait 20 days for the parts to arrive from japan. Once I get the part codes ill post them

You have me confused .....

Are you referring to gears in the transmission or gears in the differential .. ??
