I wonder if insurance companies start noticing a lot of modified cars are crashing out side race tracks lol.

I'm calling urban legend on this one, or at least its not the whole story. For a collision repair an insurance company is going to require a police report at minimum. Seems like a little too much risk for a few thousand dollars.

I was there on the miata one and they did fix it police showed up and everything there were no witnesses and he said he swerved to avoid a deer. I know others have done the same with no issues.

As a insurance adjuster, don't lie to your company. Trust me they will find out, technology makes it a lot harder to be decietful. And all insurance companies have cooperation clauses, we ask, you don't cooperate claim is denied, it's contractual. Best advice is you do something stupid, do at your own risk. Best thing is to get speciality insurance for track days.

I know its not the right thing to say but all I said is i know some one that did it and got away with it + ive heard a lot of stories similar to that one. I would not do it, its not worth risking it since you can go to jail.

Thanks Pcasso87. I realize its possible to get away with it, but I wouldn't want to be the guy that doesn't. Just not worth the risk as you say in your later post.

I certainly would think I would be smart enough to not do it right outside the track where the event where I was most likely registered occurred!

Everyone makes choices in their life, what you do is up to you. Everyone always does not want to pay for something they may or may not use, however when ish hits the fan all of a sudden you wish you had a do over. Insurance is a simple concept, you transfer your risk in exchange for a fee. The greater the risk the greater the premium, if you do not want pay the premium understand the risk is yours. Fraud increases everyone's rates. Some carriers investigate more then others, what risk do you want to take? Technology make thing ALOT easier to catch people. No lifeguard present swim at your own risk.
