Weird. Can't reply with quote for Gramicci101...

Anyway, what I meant about "tracking straight" is that as soon as I let the steering wheel go, it starts to drift one way or the other, not that it pulls one way or the other. All of my other RWD cars will usually just track straight for at least a little while. Makes it difficult to tie my necktie in the morning...

But thanks for the suggestion about the CasCam plates. Need to look into those...

Like mentioned, I would suggest you get an alignment.

Yup. And tire pressures. I believe they ship cars with the tires overinflated (forgot reason why) and the dealer may not have let air out during the prep work.
If tire pressure is off, the tire pressure light should be turned on right? And I am not sure the dealer will do the alignment for free though. Most dealers try to avoid as much work as possible. They would tell u everything is normal even there is indeed an issue.

The light will come on under.. 28 psi if I recall correctly. Forgot what the exact number is. 35 is the recommendation, according to the manual and the sticker on the door jam.

Does that have something to do with the steering effort?

Question, what do you consider "heavier" or "lighter" steering .. ?? The effort to turn the steering wheel ..... or something else .. ??

Since the car is relatively new, you may consider asking the dealer that you bought the car from, to check the alignment. If they won't, I suggest you take it to a tire shop to have it aligned.

Also, as mentioned several times, check the tire pressure. If you bring them down to about 32 psi, from 35 psi, the steering will feel different.

So, 86wtywly, what's your plan ..... ??

I checked both at the dealer. They looked and said everything looks great. They provided me with the alignment sheet. Even though I still feel the steering should be a little heavier. But it might be juz the car's setup. I am not sure

Want a heavier feel, add wider wheels and tires. Going from my summer set 17x9, 245 to my winter set stock wheels with 215s and a different compound is night and day difference.

The tire friction makes can make a huge difference in the feel of the steering. Try driving on some loose gravel and it will feel extremely light.

I also felt a bit of difference between the 13 and the '16 FRS. I however didn't have to wait 2 years to detect the difference. I brought my '13 in to trade in on a '16 and thought the same as the OP (same size tires/rims) that the steering effort feels 'less' on the '16 on my drive home from the dealer.

YMMV,
