My MR2 sat for a while and I think the breather tube to the filler neck got clogged by something. When I'm at the pump it only lets me put in about .5gal at a time. The DIY I found though is terrible I think or I'm really really stupid. I'll find out tomorrow hopefully when I buddy checks the FSM he has for the info.

Or on a side note anyone have access to All Data and could get me the instructions to remove the fuel filler neck on a 2005 MR2 spyder?

A reference for you:

http://www.mr2.com/forums/archive/in...p/t-81550.html

I scraped this off the Internet:

"If you've ever noticed, there are two metal line associated with the filler, the larger one and a smaller one. This smaller one is a fueling fill vent.

The hissing that you get when releasing the cap is a problem with the canister and evap control, but this has nothing to do with fueling the tank..

Did you try lifting the nozzle out a bit? Some times on both or my two's (and my supras did this too), if the nozzle is in angle or depth or something, it cause the shutoff to trigger and pulling it out partly would correct the issue... It also only seemed to do it at certain stations too.. I've noticed that some of the newer pumps have a longer spout on the nozzle and I think this is the problem.

Something else to note is that where the filler pipe connects to the tank, the plate assembly that bolts to the tank the the hose from the filler pipe connects to has a flap valve in it. Its a roll over saftey valve to prevent the filler pipe from allowing fuel to fill in it in the event that the car rolls. The flap could be stuck closed for some reason from the last fill or seized in from rust or gum up on the hinge pin or what not....

If you can seem to get it to fill, try taking to heat shield off and remove the hose that connects the pipe to the plate and see if the flap is stuck and try freeing it up."

I asked my friend, Bubba, and he says just to pull the filler nozzle a little ways out of the filler and try again.

If that doesn't work, he says to jam a length of 1/2" garden hose down the filler tube to open up/punch out, the obstruction. He learnt that technique while siphoning gas from his neighbors cars .......

Tried moving it around. different pumps and stations too. It's been sitting on and off for weeks because of it.

That is the DIY I was reading but I can't figure out what the hell the guy is talking about. I see 3 hoses off the filler neck, not 2, and they are way smaller then what he says and no reason to remove the intake to get to them. Are the heat shields mentioned the ones under the car?

I'm not sure. I just googled MR2 filler tube, or something like that, and it sent me to a MR2 forum post.

You may wish to sift through some of those forums ........ but, as you know, you can't believe everything that is posted on forums .......

You might use Bubba's garden hose, hooked up to an air compressor to see if you can "blow it clear".

OR, the results could remind me of the time I dropped an Agfa 35mm film camera in a rice paddy so, I took it home and took it apart to dry and clean it up. When I couldn't get it back together, I took the pieces, in a cardboard box, into a camera shop and asked how much he would charge to put it back together.

He told me it would have been $50, if I would have just brought it in to be cleaned, but, now that I messed it up, it would be $100.....

So, I bought a new one.
