If you have techstream you may be able to flash it with a Tactrix cable, similar how you can do logging, etc with techstream via the Tactrix cable. If you send me the CUW I'll see if I can execute it. I won't flash because my car doesn't have an issue.

Here it is:

If you could attempt it that'd be great the paperwork I found online seems really quite simple and applies to most Lexus Toyota and scion vehicles so I hope it applies here: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...wBZIE0bByLHkRg

I no longer have a techstream cable or tactrix cable for that matter so I can't attempt it

Do you think techstream pirated version even include that update wizard?

It includes the wizard, whether it works or not without the application being registered is the issue. It seems like it won't work.

Maybe try taking the file direct to a dealer or anyone else with techstream.

Thanks for trying though. Is your ini file all edited and everything?

I'm curious about this as well. I don't think my car would like it if I flashed back to stock ECU.

finally forced the dealer to check my tcm and make sure it has the updated software version

the service advisor kept on telling me to take the car out for a test drive to try to replicate the issue..i kept telling him that it happens randomly and not so easy to replicate..just check the freaking tcm...skip all the other troubleshooting routes

then he comes to me and say there is an updated version and we will install it

no automatic shifting issues anymore

Took mine in yesterday to get this update done. I don't even know if I have the idle issues but definitely the hard/rough shifting issue when going into Sport mode after driving in normal mode for a while. Got fed up with it on the other night coming home. Told the dealer that I had the idle fluctuation issue along with the rough shifting that I had told them about last year when I went for an oil change. I gave them the printed TSB and asked them to do the update. Took about 10 minutes explaining how it is intermittent and only happens after driving for a while in normal mode so he would understand....not sure it was being processed by the service writer. The TSB came out after my last visit so wasn't aware at the time. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that I had the rough shifting but thought that might put them over the edge on any hesitation....well, maybe it did. They performed the update and told me that they couldn't duplicate the problem, blah, blah, blah. I asked whether they did test drive before they did the update....he wasn't sure....duhhhh. My fall back was going to be that the TSB talks about the idle fluctuation being after driving 25 miles....were they going to drive 25 miles....if so, I'm going with them. Didn't happen and the update was done so hopefully, the problem is solved. Seems ok on the short trip home last night. Will report and vote later when I know for sure whether problem is solved. What I don't get is why the TSB doesn't mention rough shifting or any of the other issues that seem solved in this thread. Thanks for posting this thread and the TSB's on the other.

It should take care of all your problems. I haven't had a single hard shift or idling issue since I had the reflash done. Car is better than ever.

9 months or so since the update and ZERO hard shifting issues. If anyone has doubts, just ask them to do it, even if you have to pay labor, it's WELL worth it for the benefits of not having a major annoying headache when trying to enjoy the car.

No luck here in getting the dealer to do it. I give up since the Toyota dealership here in Hawaii is not part of Toyota USA. I even brought a copy of the TSB. Hoping my next car isn't a Toyota.

Would anyone know what the labor cost would be roughly? That's the route I want to take and just get it done with.

What Cole said.

I was told 2 hours but that was probably a guesstimate. They did mine in less than an hour, most of that time was probably the dude cruising around in my car.
