Wondering because I get the crackles etc between my shifts at higher rpm, but not when lifting off throttle and coasting, literally get nothing unless it's beneath 3200 Also that's at +10 or -10 ?? |

Also another thought that I want to try, is adjusting the Transient Ignition Retard Values as I notice in the areas that this doesn't work, there is little to no ignition retard at all in that table.. Going to try it in little bits and update the results here, but just food for thought In case anyone else wants to try it out

Yeah, it does crackle more when you shift (because of rev matching) but it still pops and burbles somehow on lifting or slightly coasting...
I changed the ignition point forwards because it was way too loud for me But as it also smells pretty much I have now removed the overrun completely again. Maybe I will try just changing the ignition point in the near future...

First of all, I joined this forum just so I could reply in this thread.
Second, I love my backfires with this tune mod. There is one thing that is confusing me though ... What is this muffler wading everyone keeps speaking of? And while we're on the subject ... What is a muffler for that matter? </trolling> Definitely sounds awesome with my current stock exhaust other then the Berk Muffler Delete. I have a few different tunes in my OFT with different launch control for days when roads are hotter and stickier and I've added this to all of them, but also made the added change of leaving the timing below 2200rpm alone, cause the car felt a little sluggish or hesitant when I tried to take off in first, as it had to go through the timing retard, even if it was only for a moment. I've gone a few thousand miles with the backfires on demand. |

What is this muffler wading everyone keeps speaking of? (Not sure if you actually wanted this answered )All of the mufflers on the market even the stock one have of course the chambers in the muffler and piping and such and it's packed with a fiberglass sort of material to help muffle some harsh frequencies. With this tune, not only is there more force coming through but also you're subjecting the muffler to more heat and the packing starts to become brittle and fracture and get burned/thrown out of the muffler. Eventually it'll get louder and raspier which may not be something you want. It's alright when you have a berk muffler delete like I used to have or you have, but some of the people with an N1 or Q300 may not want that later down the line because you sacrifice comfort in the form of little to no drone and no raspiness for the crackles and pops, and then later down the road it'll be loud and start droning.

I was being facetious. I know what muffler wadding is. As a side note, I don't understand why anyone uses a muffler on the car. You're not going to get any real performance gains swapping the stock muffler for an aftermarket muffler. If all someone is looking for is sound, IMO there is no better sound then having no muffler at all which is why I went with the Berk muffler delete. It doesn't drone and it's not obnoxiously loud unless I want it to be.

I know this is probably getting old to most, but I remain adamant there is some way to make it work the way I want it to lol @ztan I seen your recent work for the Overboost Fuel Cut, and it makes me wonder, if there is a table within our rom that could be reassigned for use as an ignition timing retard specifically used during overrun conditions (as it doesnt seem to exist otherwise).
Or maybe there is still some logic there that is not defined, that I dont know. In your honest opinion is the idea feasible ? I played with Transient Ignition retard a bit but I did not get what I wanted out of it, Sent from my LG-H812 using Tapatalk |

@andrew5826 You sir, are a legend ! You made the little kid inside me so damn happy that I think I'm not gonna sleep for a couple of days just thinking how awesome it was ! Thank you Thank you Thank you !
![]() When I first tested it, I wasn't sure if it was working or not since I was only getting some tiny subtle pops (which my muffler delete makes on a hot day) until I did a downshift into 4th on the highway and man I was screaming like a little boy. ![]() Now, without blowing my engine up , is it true that setting the timing into +10 is gonna make it sound like a LOUDER shotgun pop like someone mentioned before ? ![]() EDIT: Also, does changing the first column into -15 make the pops more clear/louder?
