Same for the sound you hear when it's in neutral. Google "neutral rollover" and you'll feel much better. Welcome to the forum and enjoy your cool car.

edit: Sorry, @humfrz. My brother and I took the sports cars and ladies out to Point Reyes to see the lighthouse. Fun drive!
YIKES, ya'll didn't walk all the way down there did ya .......

Or did you read the sign and take a seat on the observation deck and attach a telephoto lens ......

OK, if you say so ....... "neutral rollover".

But why doesn't my car have a "neutral rollover" sound .......

If you're using the clutch "properly" and it doesn't slip under maximum engine torque then expect it to live a long healthy life. Replace your TOB before it starts to seize and take out your pressure plate.

The stock clutch was specified according to the rated capacity of the transmission. It's supposed to let go before the transmission grenades under max torque.

Path down to the lighthouse was closed. We took a selfie with it in the background.

I don't know why you don't hear yours. I hear it from every single twin I've driven or ridden. It is very subtle. Like the guys here have observed, they only hear it with the radio and AC turned off.

Where do you go about getting a new TOB? I guess just the subaru parts store?

When I press the clutch in, there is a strange rotating/ grinding noise. Same when I'm braking with my engine but at lower RPMs (<3,000). Again, it's very subtle, and only really noticeable when music/ A/C is off. I do have power mods, so I'm curious if it's my clutch slipping? Sorry for the noobness, I normally do plenty of research.
Another way to determine if your clutch is slipping is to set the emergency brake, put the car in 2nd gear, rev to about 2,000 rpms then let the clutch out slowly ........ if that kills the engine ....... your clutch still has life.

Where to get a TOB ? The dealer would be a good place.

Are you going to put it in yourself .. ??

Yeah, or here's the rockauto listing.

I think the SKF unit is the OEM.

I don't have the tools to take my transmission out. So I'd have to take it somewhere.

Why, all you need is a few cement blocks, a couple of 8' 4x4s and a socket set ......
