Best way to secure suction cup GoPro on driver side rear window?
I'm thinking of tethering it to the door handle.

Are you asking how to use a suction cup, or how to install a backup incase the suction cup fails? Honestly if you're driving around with a swinging anchor banging against your door, I'd wager that it'll do more damage than it'll cost to buy another gopro if not just the housing should it be recovered... haven't had any issues with my gopro mount yet in both rain and very hot sunny days.

Backup in case the suction cup fails. I'd rather have the unit banging against my car than have it fly into someone's windshield. For some organizations, it's required to be tethered anyway.

Any decent suction cup to a clean window or bodywork won't come off unless something hits it. Last edited by strat61caster; 07-01-2016 at 01:19 PM. |

I've seen mention of this in some organization's rules but I've never been asked to do anything with mine just being suction cupped on... I've seen more of the sticky pads fall off than the suction cups. Heck, I can walk into my suction cup mount (by accident, derp) and whack it out of alignment before it pulls off of the window.
I'd probably just run a lanyard around your headrest post if you're concerned about it.

I'd rather lose the gopro, than have it bang against the car.
I 've lost more than a few gopros. |

For outside of rear window, I just use the 3M tape mount.
[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9stPHKiWTs"]Being passed like a BAWSSSS at Circuit of the Americas - YouTube[/ame] This was using the regular GoPro 3M tape mount. I've had it on the window for close to 2 years now, and use it once every 6 months or so. Have never removed it and don't think it will ever come out unless I took a razor blade to it... -alex |

I have this Delkin Fat Gecko mount. It has lots of axis adjustments. It's more of a prosumer mount but it has 2 cups (in case one fails and for more mounting options) with lock and is made for mounting DSL cams so the GoPro will work perfect on it. It's good over 150mph too :P

Holy hell. I think you have to join the Pen15 club to use that mount lol.
All kidding aside there is really a ton of options out there... that sure looks industrious |

I use my DSLR on it sometimes and I need the best bang for the buck..lol This is mostly aluminum and it's underpriced at $70 but If it saves my $800 camera it's worth it.

You could always just keep the mount inside somewhere. That's become my preferred safety measure...
