Removing the driveshaft

A local driveline shop has offered me a bounty if I remove the driveshaft of my car and bring it to them to take measurements.

How much work would this be? Any parts that would need to be replaced as a result of this? What about fluid loss? Is it flanges at both ends, or is there a slip yoke?

Super easy. Here is a quick video. You will need to drain the transmission fluid first though. Simple task. I am chaning my drive shaft on friday so I can't say from experience yet. This video link from FT86Factory is a full walk through though. On the video they did even say you can do it with the exhaust still on, should slide past it. Slip yoke one end. Flange at the other. 4 bolts on Flange. 2 bolts holding mid section of the 2 piece driveshaft. 2 Transmission Crush washers need to be replace around 18$ total for both from subaru dealer. 2.2l Trans fluid Motul 300 75w-90 FTW

Here is a link for DIY trans fluid change. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19218
Dont forget crush washers when u put it back in!

I have done this a couple of times already and you can actually do this without replacing the trans fluid if you can lift the car with the rear end higher than the front. *Warning* for safety reasons I do not recommend doing this with jack stands as there is a possibility of them tipping over. I used cribbing blocks at different heights to accomplish this.

Oh, and the only real PITA thing for me is removing and torquing down the 4 nuts and bolts at the diff since it is hard getting a breaker bar and a torque wrench under there, an impact helps a lot in this situation.

Thanks for the solid responses. Looks like an easy job that I could do fairly quickly
