Why so many changes? How do you test it all so thoroughly that you don't lose power?
If I cared about Stg1, which trust me I don't, I wouldn't make so many changes, besides restore the AVCS under 3000 where the OEMs new what they were doing.

I'll show you mine if you show me yours.
Can you upload these from a PC instead? They aren't coming up at all and I'm interested to see them.

^^^^ I just used that table above for my 86 and WOW what a difference. Mods are JDL UEL header and cbe. So much smoother throughout the rev range very aggressive sounding but most importantly no knocking A/F is good and at WOT my fuel trims are dead at 0. For cruise and idle it can be smoothed out a little more which I plan to do and get back to here but I highly recommend using that table as a "template" because man it truly was night and day. Thanks for posting that.

I found those tables a bit too restrictive

These do fix for the most part the bogging/shifting to around 2200 in auto mode.
I wouldn't change the timing so much from shiv's dyno tuned timing at WOT for NA though. Would be interesting to see if these would benefit uel and short el. MT UEL Intake MT UEL Exhaust AT UEL Intake AT UEL Exhaust MT EL Intake MT EL E0 Exhaust MT EL E85 Exhaust AT EL Intake AT EL E0 Exhaust AT EL E85 Exhaust

When a tune changes over time....
What exactly changes as a tune acclimates? This tune started out great, then started lagging after shifts on the third day after loading it. Quick response is still good. Mild acceleration/cruise MPG is still good. Lagging after shifting has gotten just a bit worse. Is it timing advance? Does it get more advanced over time, or does it get less advanced?

AFAIK the ECU only "learns" knock correction info like FLKC table and IAM and LTFT info. And some sensor calibration info like Knock sensor background noise and throttle position, and possibly some initial calibration of cam sensors in first minute or so after reflash/reset. Their appears to be no learning of cam data, or cam timing optimisation my ECU. |

Depends, I suspect it learns ltft which is used as an offset to the fueling, but would not actually offset the load calculation. Load is simply equal to MAF g/s * 60 / RPM |

So, basically timing advance and LTFT. I'm going to try a different Knock Correction Advance Max table. I'm using a custom one which is scaled to go all the way to 4.0 load. I'm FI with an ESC, and I've logged over 3.5 Engine Load before. If this prevents the lag I'll know my custom table is causing the problem. I've been planning to scale the MAF after getting the AVCS right. This tune is the closest I've come so far.

so tested out KoolBRZ's tables. Here's some feedback on how well it did on my 86 w/ a JDL uel header...
Startup was nice The throttle pedal was "lighter" than before giving me a just little more space before the revs would go up. This is good the gas pedal became more predictable. Cruising... Shifting between 1-3k is just a tad rough... barelyyyy not perfect. Probably due to the fact the car is so damn rev happy. 4K and up under all loads is absolute perfection. It's feels as if I have "autorev match" every downshift is slippery smooth. And every up shift is now even smoother than before. No really I had the best downshift to second i couldn't believe it. Thank you KoolBRZ for letting me test out your tables I'll be keeping them because they are indeed the best tables I have used thus far. The ONLY thing I would change imo would be in the lower loads between 1-3k its just a tad jerky but still very smooth nothin crazy. And KoolBRZ if you know of any other tables you've changed to make the 86 even better please let me know lol thank you... In an area where there are so many stock 86's it's nice to know we can make ours a little more enjoyable with some research. |
