Wife found it and brought it home for me to test drive. It's our preferred car for road trips. Way more comfortable than the Camry.

My gf just finds it hilarious that even if I step on it the car isn't really going anywhere, and ask why we are still at the intersection at 1st gear redline while the Corolla beside us is pulling away lol!

She also said if SHTF/earthquake/deep impact/wildfire/2012/Nibiru happens that I can't even take the BRZ with me anyway cuz it's gonna get stuck at some ditch, and that I should start saving for that old Toyota Land Cruiser I always wanted just in case.

my wife just sees my car as another one of my hobbies. she doesn't like driving it because it's lowered and she's afraid of scraping. she doesn't know how to angle the car or slow down properly when going over dips or driveways.

she likes the way it looks, and finds it comfortable to sit in. doesn't mind riding in it at all, as long as she doesn't have to drive. actually, let me take that back - she hates that i slow down to a crawl for dips and bumps because the car is lowered. she rolls her eyes when i can't go to certain places which i know have particularly steep entrances that would scrap my lip.

she encouraged me to get it over a more 'practical' car because it suited me better (she was used to me owning the 280Z). like the Z, she does think that it's a bit too loud, but glad that it doesn't smell of gas.

One thing I found helps is to make an effort to drive slowly and smoothly when she's in the car with me. It's a fair compromise IMO. She doesn't mind taking my car and I drive extra conservatively to keep her happy.

Basically what my SO is like too, she doesn't like the fact that I want to lower mine and thinks that the stock height is too low. I do plan on driving super slow and cautious with her in the car as well so she doesn't hate it too much. If I were to "speed" in that, she'd kill me before I get myself killed on the road. I don't know how she'd feel with me getting a manual since I'd be the first car she'd be in with a manual transmission.

I completely interpreted this wrong by thinking that by limited space you meant limited parking space, LOL. Tesla Model 3 sounds like a good alternative though!

Can't see 2 miles ahead.
Other cars block view.
Wrong colour.
Too shiny (reflection hurts eyes).
People stare.
Going to cause an accident (see item above).
Insurance cost to much ($680 a year).
Gets washed too much
People will break in because looks to expensive.
Tinted windows too dark.
Uses premium gas so is expensive (gets almost double the mileage her car does)
Can't hold 5 people.

Probably another half dozen I have forgotten/tuned out.
Yeah your wife basically hit the same exact points that my SO has with the car. I always find it funny how she thinks the seat is so tight when my butt is larger than hers and I sit perfectly fine.

When the BRZ first came out, we took one for a test drive and my wife (girlfriend at the time) hated it. I ended up buying something else, but then like 1.5 years later I was sick of the car, so we checked another BRZ out. She changed her mind on it and ended up loving it.

"I've forgotten how bumpy your car is"
"Your car is really loud"

Meanwhile she has her seat heater on max, and the "two-zone" climate control 4 degrees higher on her side.

Edit: this threads not really to convince/help me on which trim to buy, it's more of a discussion on what your significant other thinks of your car. I'm a firm believer in choosing what I want for something rather than letting people convince me, so her opinions won't sway mine

My girlfriend doesn't seem to mind. She rides with me on 2.5 hour trips every month. And never complains when I take detours to go mountain driving. She actually prefers I drive instead of us taking her car. 😂

My boyfriend thinks the car is too low to the ground and is a little too small for his long legs. Oh, and that its slower than his mustang. But he gets jealous when we take it around the curves, his mustang can't do that This car is perfect for me, I love everything about it!

Although I am single

I have driven with several women in my car and all of them are in love with it. One girl actually said that my exhaust turned her on and insisted I took her on the highway to open her up. Knowing this turned me on more that it turned her on and I ended up attempting to have sex with her in the passenger seat which was a massive fail.

Cons/complaints - The worst car to have sex in.

back in 2014, the lady hated it. Cars are long term so she thought I should get something with back seats (if she pushed this hard enough and I cross shopped the WRX, this might have happened...) and not a sports car.
then she didn't like how much time I spent washing/modifying/attending car meets etc.

But I think it finally got to her that it made me happy, and now she accepts the car guy stuff. We are actively looking for a new house with a garage, she hardly complains when I detail the car, and she's even bought me car parts. When her boss who owns a mazda 3 talked shit, she even defended it.

I think she's finally accepted that the car will be the mistress of the house, and gets along.
Sometimes when I'm doing WOT she likes to mimic the sound to be silly.

We are now engaged.

When I went to sign the papers on a '15 WRX, the wife said "you don't really want this, do you. You still want the BRZ."

And I said "yeah, I do".

And they were out of BRZs

So I went down the street and bought an FR-S.

She's driven it a few times and can't see well out of it, and she doesn't like it when I drive at anything over speed limit. But she's a fan of long cruises in the hills and loves the way the car looks.
