I went from a GTi to my FR-S.

The GTi is not without it's merits. It was one of the best FWD cars i've ever driven. It is fast (even in stock form, it'll mostly smoke our cars unless FI). The interior is way nicer quality, the cargo capacity is extremely good. It gets better gas mileage while making way more power.

But in the end, I'm much happier with a slow sports car that was designed to be a sports car, than ANY normal car with performance parts bolted on.

The feel, responsiveness and balance of a rwd sports car is worth the trade off of straight line power and practicality. I loved that GTi but I almost never "miss" it when i drive my 86.

GTI is all capitols. Look at pictures of your old car. It's not a lowercase i

I used to own a MKV GTI and this bugged the hell out of me when people used a lowercase i lol

Gotta disagree with you on that especially after all the soft touch surfaces started to melt, in addition to the creaks and rattles from day 1 lol!

It's funny that you correct his grammar, but use the word "capitols" instead of "captials". A capitol is a building in which a legislature meets or a city.

It's funny that you correct his spelling, but "capitol" only refers to buildings. The city is a "capital".

Good looking out! Besides, I got rid of that car 4yrs ago, what do I care about how the badge was spelled?

What melted??? I had ZERO issues like that. No rattles/sounds/etc either, even after being low and stiff for a few years on semi-crappy Chicago area roads, winters, etc. Pushed it pretty hard for 4yrs and about 60k miles (from 35k - 90k) and it was a vault.

It's weird how spotty the reliability of VWs are - some people have horror stories, others rival hondas.

It is funny that you would also try correct his grammar seeing as contractions are not an accepted form when writing in proper (see formal) English.

you say funny I say good design with poor assembly and poor quality assurance , hence why some are lauded and others dreaded (Don't know if this still applies but back some years there was a noticeable difference between VW's built in Mexico vs ones not built there), who knows, that may still apply, I have no clue as I do not plan on purchasing a VW in my lifetime.

Ha! I think innertoobz forums are about as far from formal as you can get.

I think that should be "try to correct". And it's vocabulary that I was correcting, not grammar. And Internet forums are not really a medium where formal usage is required.

Other than those though, ISWYDT
