I just tend to find a battery that fits snuggly in the space (making it very hard for the battery to move, even did a few over crest jumps with no negative impact.. but that was in my is300, tie down still on the BRZ as I haven't had to change the battery yet, I'll keep it there but if it didn't fit I wouldn't be worried and just toss it)... that a bit more of what I meant as a Wee part

Here's the picture of how I did.
Never move around. Not even 1/4"

Basically, you switch two tie rod/bolt each other and bend the longer one as shown in the picture. As you can see, if you lay the battery to mount, one of the holes for the tie rod sits above the battery. That is why I bent longer one. It is tricky to tight the nut, but it is doable.

How did you get the terminals that way? Some extension?

No need extension. It is long enough to reach both terminals. As far as I remember, you only need to pop out the tie/clip or whatever its called as shown in below pic.

4) Having wire failures because the copper work hardens from the constant bending because battery is moving.

Overall, it's just stupid to say that it's not needed. Batteries are literally bombs and should be treated as such.

1-already said it was needed in some circumstances, tracking being one of them

2-4 if you have a battery that fits snuggly into the space, it will not move hence will not bend, will not cause abrasions and will not be a fire hazard. mkaaaayyyyy???!!?

(I did say it's recommended but not needed and if one follows the definitions I am correct in my statement) that being said, yes you should keep it on. If you haven,t notice yet that I was somewhat trolling/playing devil's advocate on this subject.

But I also had 2 cars with no tie down and nothing ever happened

Batteries are not bombs also, having seen several explode over the course of my life as well as actual explosives, they are not even close... that being said, having a battery blow up in your face is not a fun time.

"Snuggly" isn't tight enough to stop abrasion. Unless there is a clamping force, it's not tight enough.

Anecdotal evidence isn't evidence at all. But if you want to play that game, I've had issues in some of my older cars that lacked a battery tie down. If it wasn't required, car makers wouldn't use them as it's counter to cost savings.

That's the equivalent of saying a firecracker isn't a bomb when by definition they are.

Nobody likes a devil's advocate...
