Lightweight battery that fits the stock tray and tie down?
My battery died and I need a replacement. I currently have the STI battery tie down and I'd like to continue using it, which seems like it severely limits my lightweight battery options to the point of nothing. (so far as I've seen)
As far as weight is concerned, I'd like it to be lighter, but extreme lightweight isn't necessary (although certainly welcome) - it just needs to fit the stock parts. Anyone know of a battery that fits the bill?

Because he thinks you're saying that you don't need a battery tie down.

Lightweight battery that fits the stock tray and tie down?
Without one the battery moves around as you drive, it's only held by the terminals. If you move to a Shorai or Braille those kits still have a cradle or some bracing that acts as a tie down. Since I'm going to have to use one, I'd prefer it be the STI one and not some custom brace. I'm not after the lightest battery around, I'm after a lighter battery that I can still use the tie down with.

I always thought it was a saftey issue. In the result of a crash, you don't want the battery shifting/falling over and the wires getting disconnected and grounding out/sparking.
Also I found this via google: "A battery doesn't like excessive vibration. Vibration can shorten it's life."

With slight modification of longer stock battery tie bolt, you can mount the battery flat like I did, but I have braille 15 lbs AGM & cusco battery tie which is stock size also. It fits perfectly by side mounting.

)Definitely a use for them and they are recommended but not needed (hell I've done crest jumps a few time with no negative issues). I'm curious about the vibration quote from google though, I'll take a look |
