then looks like I'm saving up $1200 for their full speaker setup and adding a good sub later. i had the original base system b4 but sold it due to an emergency =/ and the sub was weak... 100 watt RMS and i was always messing with bass settings

In fact, I would bet my house that I could install a $800 processor and multi-channel amp and get better sound with the stock speakers than buying $800 speakers, a multi-channel amp, and no processor.

I should add, this is provided you are worried about sound quality first.

I understand that, my point was just to highlight the importance of proper tuning for each car.

Or for the same money you could get an aftermarket headunit that has AndroidAuto and AppleCarplay built in along with time alignment and autoEq, a set of components, an amp and a sub. Lots of different ways to go when you define what your budget is. You could get decent components and a digital amp for a lot less than $800, thought you wanted this on the cheap.

Yes, sorry, let's be anal about it and pretend to not know what I'm talking about. Class D amps. I'll leave you enthusiasts to continue, I've never won anything in IASCA.

I was trying to be anal or insulting, I was sincerely curious if you were talking about one of the newer dsp amps.

No, I simply meant a class D. They are not digital and the D doesn't stand for digital but they are still commonly referred to that way. The little Alpine discussed above is a class D. I'm running a pair of Picasso Nano's for front components and a sub.
