STI Start button replacement
I've done some searching, and either my search foo is weak...or I'm about to ask a new question. (Don't worry I suspect my search foo is indeed weak...)
Anyway I was looking at doing a start button swap but have gotten myself confused by the two options. Those being with and without a status light. The site says the follow for the description of the one without the status light: Quote:
Hopefully once someone clears this up I'll know which one to go with. Right now I'm thinking I need the one without the status light...but yeah.... Also if anyone knows, do the STI buttons light up? Or are they just straight start buttons? Thanks, and if this needs to be moved to a different sub forum please do so. On a side note I did not see a "how to" for this, so if I get an answer I'll do a write up on it if anyone is interested. |

You need the one without the status light. The wiring plugs on the back are different between the two. The STi logo on the one without the status light illuminates .

Here's a writeup on the install that @brz_star21 did: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2311917
That STi button is so much win:

Now that your question has been answered, here's how to improve your search fu:
Ignore the search button on this site. vBulletin's built-in search is terrible, not just on this board, but on every board that runs that software. It will ignore the most relevant posts and give you lots of garbage that has nothing to do with your topic. Or it will tell you no such topics exist. It's an all-around failure. Instead, use Google. Yep, just good old Google. You can restrict a Google search to just this site by using Google's built-in "site:" tag, like so: site:ft86club.com STI start button status light Just enter that text into the search field on Google. What I've done there is told Google to only search pages on the domain ft86club.com, which it's more than happy to do. You can do this with any domain name. Some companies actually build in a Google search into their own websites to use Google this way. If you use that tag a lot on a single website, Google will occasionally think you're trying to mine information, and it will take you to an intermediate page where you have to prove you're not a robot. Don't be alarmed if that happens. Just fill out the captcha thing they give you and keep going. It's a little annoying, but it's not usually permanent. I'm not sure if that would have answered your question, but it will improve your chances going forward. |
