I would just get a Corvette. Forget trying to Frankenstein the 86 to get it over 300 hp.

A c6 is just overall better performer right out of the box than a modified 86.

A stronger set of gears would def be in the picture We have a group buy going for a set of straight cut gears from PAR Engineering. PM me if you're serious and want to know more. ONLY if you're serious though.

I know two different people with ~550hp FA20's, so it's not unrealistic. A 600hp 86 will be a wacky fucking autocross car though lol. Time Attack would be very exciting to see.

I am considering swapping the diff. FB’s kit is expensive. Mating a modified donor diff to the FT86 might be a better route.

The diff is only part of the problem.. The trans is another weak point. More trans have blown than diffs.. But it all depends on how you drive.. I push 500+ and my trans is good.. But I'm not always on the highest map.. And I'm not ragging on it 24-7..

I bought a is300 lsd diff.. They've been known to hold up to 600ftlb according to some of the is forums I've read

The R32 rear end was swapped in somewhere in these threads. R154 may be a better option than a swapped gear set depending on how expensive it is.

600hp is definitely possible but terribly expensive. So much so that when doing the math for my own build I found that it would be cheaper to do a 2JZ swap (dual ECU) than to try and build the FA20. But if it's your goal then don't let any of us stop you!

you have the option of the gear sets but another option you could look into is a transmission conversion. T56 comes to mind. I;'m sure theres plenty of engineering outfits out there capable of making an adapter for it. It's still not cheap being a one off but your'e gonna need a pretty big budget chasing 600hp anyway. It's still, however, much much cheaper than the sequential racing boxes out there.

I believe a different engine would be a more reliable too. You would end up spending a huge fortune. The T56 would need a longer bellhousing to fit. I am starting to think an LS, UZ or JZ engine swap would be a better route.

Is300 m85 diff is the best budget option. $500-800 depending on location and will hold upwards of 700tq.

Running one on my car. Long gears are awesome.

OP should swap a 13b rotor, verry verry cheap swap, very quiet smooth running engines, incredibly reliable, great fuel economy, you'll love it, trust me, just do it...

I am ignorant about the pumpkin in this car atm. I underestimated what can be done with it. Researching IS300... DSS axles will likely be the first upgrade.
