Maybe because they stop quicker than the average car? Also because everyone and their mother drive distracted now

I have had aftermarket parts covered when it was the other persons' fault. One time I had some weird taillights no one could source and they just gave me the money for it and replaced with stock ones. You just have to provide them with what it was and the value. I keep all receipts in a binder along with maintenance records and it seems to be less hassle when something like this comes up.
Also, never leave without a police report. A cut and dry police report makes things easier. |

And practice good defensive driving techniques by checking mirrors before braking. There will of course be panic situation situations but sudden braking may not be the only option.

Perhaps it's because drivers of smaller cars drive more defensively because in an accident, they, being in the smaller car, have a higher chance of being smooshed...

A couple reasons for this. When people are beside me, I cannot see their signal lights, so I don't know if they're trying to move over. If someone cuts me off very close to my front, I'm putting my brakes on immediately, because other than SUVs and other trucks, I can't see most people's license plates, which means I can't adequately see their brake lights. What I gain in being able to see further out from my truck, I lose being able to see very close up. Not disagreeing with what you said, but, I feel like it gives some good context to the point of "seeing better". |

But that's your policy which I brelieve applies to comprehensive and collision coverages when a collision is your fault or uninsured motorist coverage . In OP's case, it is the other party's fault so he/they will have to pay whatever it costs to restore OP's car to pre-collision condition.
