Heres an OFT question:
Say I wanted to get a kraftwerks blower. Would I be able to use OFT to flash the tune to my ECU? Could the tune be uploaded to the device like normal? |

You problem will be getting someone to tune the car for the kraftworks supercharger, the oft guys have only done the vortech sc kit and the sbd and oft 350 turbo kits. if the kraftworks kit is arround 10psi boost thenit possible to do with opensource and if shiv adopts ztans speed density work then higher boosts likely possible. however many tuner wont work with opensource as they cannot protect their work, if you can get car to shiv it should not be a problem or another tuner prepared to work with opensource |

Ecutek is a good system but its very locked down Ecutek tunes are delivered encrypted so if the tuner locks them which in this case they do, then you cannot view edit or even view the tune. all you can do is flash it. When you flash the tune with ecutek it also changes the ecu seed keys so no other system other than ecutek can read or write to your ecu. Ecutek knows the tune written is locked so you wount just be able to read it out edit it or view it. The tune is also locked to youe licience which is locked to your car. The licience is non transferable, the tune is non transferable in most cases. The only way to get control of your ecu again is to flash an ecutek "stock rom" You also need to buy an ecutek licience about $300 and an ecutek cable to be able to flash tunes yourself cable about $400. If you going to switch to ecutek, make sure you flash your stock tune to the car BEFORE , you flash anything with ecutek, then you will be able to sell your OFT. Once you flash with ecutek or a tuner flashes your car with ecutek you will no longer be able to use the OFT for anything but logging. |

Wow that's lame. 50% of the reason I got OFT was because I thought it would flash ecutek files. Oh well, hopefully Shiv and the guys decide to get a kraftwerks blower. Or it looks like I'll be waiting till my move to Montana and limping my car to Cali every weekend.
I'm all for speed density, as sketchy as it is. I suppose I'll always prefer raw data over calculated stuff, but it'll work in the meantime. |

That's not true, tunes are licensed to the dongle not the ECU/car.
