Oil pressure sender thread size

Any1 know the thread size of our oil pressure sending unit (left one)? I need a splitter and its smaller then my gauges sending unit so idk what to get. New wrx is 1/8 PT like my gauge, but ours is smaller (I checked). Maybe some1 with alldata can see?

ping on that one, I wonder if anyone retrofitted another oil pressure sensor on the factory location.

I am currently trying to fit the oil pressure sending unit from the innovate MTX gauge package but the sensor is too big to fit in the oil galley plug.

right now I am trying to see if it will work with a spacer...aka an spacer for exhaust O2 sensor. They are the exact same size as the oil galley plug (M18 x 1.5 thread pitch), but I am wondering if that will screw up the pressure reading... I actually would need my spacer to be a tad longer, at least 2.5" to fit right. right now it is still tight with the throttle body cables.

Without the spacer, the oil pressure sending unit bumps into the throttle body electrical connection. with the "spacer", it does fit, but so far , I get 100 pressure reading as soon as I rev the engine. At idle numbers seems ok +-50

Innovate told me the sensor range is 0 PSI is 240 ohms and 100 PSI is 35 ohms, but I could not find a smaller replacement sensor. They must be out there, but the specs are hard to find.

PS: image bellow is:
1- oil pressure sensor from innovate mtx kit thread 1/8PT
2- oil gallery plug adapter from M18 x1.5 to 1/8PT - subaru part@ 11024AA210
3- subaru gasket part# 037018200
4- O2 sensor spacer / fouler M18 x1.5 male to female - from amazon.

Exactly same issue I'm having with exactly the same Innovate oil press sender. The thing is a s big as an orange. I even bought the TRD oil plate with two 1/8NPT outlets only to fine the sender only screws in half a turn. Retapped it to straight NP and it screws right I but still sticks out too far leaving it very vulnerable when an oil and air filter change is required.

I've seen 4AN fittings and extension hoses being used to mount the sender higher. Sounds like a solution but how is mounting the sender so high above the oil gallery plug going to affect genuine oil pressure being displayed on the gauge?

I can't believe how much effort and thought I've put into installing this gauge and I havn't even tackled how to get power and dimming to it.

Retrofitting to the original location doesn't help due to the size of the sender and unless a T piece, yes I've bought several in stainless, is used the factory sends can't be used UNLESS they are repositioned to the gallery plug OR the oil plate.

A smaller sender would solve this issue in 5 mins...

I've had an oil pressure gauge sitting in my garage for months. I ran into the same issues you're having. Good luck, let keep this updated lol.

Yeah I think mine were sitting around for 6 months before I organised to get them fitted. I don't know if anyone else finds this but for some reason every time I think a job associated with this car will be straight forward and easy it inevitably is not! With other cars I've worked on I was usually like a bull at gate, sometimes with disasterous results, but for some reason I procrastinate something shocking with this car. I had the actual gauges sitting in the cabin without being connected for about a month

Anyway I managed to get the oil temp/press gauge functioning using the TRD sandwich plate. Even that wasn't without minor issues. The innovate oil press sender is huge as others have stated, meaning I had to use the T piece I bought to extend it past the lip of the FA20's filter housing. The temp sender was a breeze to fit. I'm still keen to fit the senders where the OEM senders are on the front of the engine and move the smaller OEM senders to the TRD oil sandwich but it sounds, from what the OP says, that may not be possible. I was almost certain that those two ports would have been 1/8npt for sure. Imp pretty sure they are because some FI installs use them to lube the blowers.

I tried to get the OEM senders out a couple of days ago but chickened out when I felt how tight they were for fear of breaking them off at their bases. Unlikely I know but this car seems to be that type of car for me. I've been driving cars and heavy trucks for over 50 years and have NEVER stripped a wheel nut...UNTIL I did on this car!

Has anyone else removed the OEM oil temp/press senders for any reason? How hard was it and were there any issues after doing it?

Anyway the gauge is working but even that isn't without a gremlins.

The other morning after being off 12+ hours and dead cold the gauge when powered up displayed a reading that fluctuated between 6-8psi before even starting the engine. Still waiting for Innovate to get back to me on that one..

Thanks for the response but that port is no good for the Innovate sender. Too big and too close to air con comp. It was the first one I considered and thought it would be a breeze. I even bought the stainless plug with 1/8npt to use. I've read a post somewhere that there is an issue with that port giving a lower than actual oil press reading for whatever reason. Don't ask me where I read it because I've done more research on gauge instal locations and methods that just about anything else for this car.

It may be a reason gauges showing low oil pressure with operating temp oil seems to be a perceived issue with the FA20. The reading from the sandwich plate seems constant and stable. Sadly the Innovate gauge maxs out at 100psi so I can't tell how high the psi is at start up but it stays at 100psi for a fair while and when at norm operating temp hits the 100psi max at approx 5k rpm.

I actually enquired with Innovate about the possibility of using another brand of and thinner sender. Apparently can't be done...so they say.

As a location for oil temp I'm sure it's fine and another good option I'll consider it when I revisit the gauge project. Only issue may be the depth of the gallery and whether a temp probe will be too long. When fitted in to the gallery plug it extends about a 1cm out the end. Someone may know and be able to comment or advise.

One would think that the because the OEM senders are where they are they have to be the most accurate and therefore best location for sourcing temp and press readings. Only questions that still needs to be answered/confirmed is whether or not they're both 1/8npt.

For pressure sensors, there's nothing wrong with running a foot of braided stainless line to give yourself some mounting room for the pressure transducers. Temperature, that wouldn't work, but pressure is fine.

The stock oil pressure location is threaded 1/8 BSPT. You'll need an adapter (male BSPT to female NPT). I just did the Innovate oil pressure/temp gauge install on mine and this was a big pain to figure out. I used a 1/8 NPT grease gun hose (rated for 3000 psi) to mount the pressure sender remotely. You'll need some NPT adapters for that and you can buy them at almost any hardware store. I didn't want that big sender hanging off the block and be very close to the serpentine belt. I mounted the temp sensor on top with a galley plug adapter. Don't forget to use Teflon/pipe tape on the threads as well.
This is the adapter I used for BSPT to NPT.

Hope this helps!
