Engine questions?

It's part of the air intake, ie more volume for the front side of the air box. I think it helps equalize the air available, as the engine rpm's vary, and cause pulses in the air being sucked into the intake.

Apparently it's just an acoustic box for the sound that goes into the cabin. Wonder what the bollock is though?
