Anyone have any "incidents" happen to them when exiting other cars, particularly ecoboxes?

There was this one time where muscle memory kicked in when I was exiting the old Corolla. Without a second thought, I moved the seat all the way back, opened the door as wide as it can go, stuck my left leg out, and put my left hand on the door sill while swinging the right leg out.

Still not realizing what was going to happen, the right side of my face kissed the gravel. I got up, looked around in embarrassment, brushed my self off, then scurried inside.

I am now deathly afraid of getting out of my buddy's lifted pickup!

Funnily enough, I drive a lifted truck for work. I think because I spend most of my time in the truck, the worst stuff happens while driving the car. I tend to drive the car like it's the truck and forget about potholes and the like and end up scraping stuff bad.

Since I have the complete opposite situation I frequently scare the crap out of the wife dodging potholes in her car. People must also think I am paranoid of getting hit by a train since I almost completely stop before crossing tracks in the high standing SUV. Railway tracks are my car's biggest nemesis around here.

Haha, train tracks I always slow to around 10 or 15 then cross at an extreme angle. I feel like I constantly piss people off behind me because of this.

Had a bad experience somewhere in the GTA where I scraped the shit out of the bottom of my car crossing some tracks. RIP skid plate.

It's only a matter of time before my oil pan is the next casualty.

Anyone else have this problem?

First off I commend you on a good laugh... Second.... I am 25, 145lbs and still feel like a walrus everyday I get in and out of my car....

Funny thread but I have to share some advice. I spent my forties the same way until I realized where things were headed. I really encourage other mid life guys to consider making your your fifties a return to better health. Your family will be the benefactor!

As a kid who weighed over 400 pounds by grade 10, I agree with this guy. Push for your personal health, everyone around you will benefit in so many different ways. Such a positive experience.

I'm motivated to go workout again. It's been a while since hitting the gym or stairs around here. Last time was probably the day before I bought the car about a month and a half ago!

44, 5'10" and I ain't gonna put up my damned weight but will say my gut's been compared to being in the 2nd trimester of pregnancy.

To give an idea of how NOT limber I am; If I have to pick-up something off the floor, I've got to spread my legs like I'm doing stretches. I've relegated myself to wearing suspenders to work, instead of a belt because that's the only way I can keep my pants up (imagine trying to keep a pair of pants up on a beachball with a belt).

So yeah, the struggle is real when it comes to getting in/out of this car for me!!

...Yet and still, you'll take this car from me over my dead fat body!

This may sound a bit evil, but this is one of the reasons I actually decided to purchase a car like the FR-S/BRZ. The fact that it's a coupe and so difficult to crawl in and out of deters my friends and family from suggesting that I drive anywhere when carpooling!
