This car does NOT make me look cool...

So, I've had my FR-S for about three weeks now, and I'm really glad I bought it for the way it drives, not the way it makes me look.

I'm talking specifically about getting in/out of the car. Anyone else feel like a clumsy idiot every time you try to crawl out of it? If I was 25 and thin, I'm sure it would be no problem. But I'm not. I'm 45 and carrying two decades of pizza and beer around my middle. So when I get out of the car, I look like a walrus trying to haul itself out of the water. It's a ridiculous process of banging my feet on the bottom of the door, scooting my butt to the edge of the seat, banging my head on the door frame, and sort of chucking myself out of the car, often with an audible grunt.

Not that I'm trying to impress people in parking lots - I don't really care very much what other people think. And of course I could fix this by going to the gym. But will I? Of course not.

I just thought it was sort of funny and ironic that such a great-looking car has the side effect of making me look so clumsy.

Anyone else have this problem?

I'm 24 and thin and I look like an idiot every time I get out. Age and build has nothing to do with looking like an idiot when exiting.

Get some leftover smoke bombs from the fireworks stand.
Park in the far end of the lot and appear magically out of a puff of colored smoke.

(was going for pink, but that would be making assumptions ;)

56. Mid weight. Lowered car. Zero issues getting in or out even with smoke in one hand and coffee in the other.

I am 48, 5'9" and was hitting 205 lbs and my blood pressure was through the roof.
I used the "no carb diet" and lost 40 lbs in 4-5 weeks and have kept it off for 7 months now. NO additional EXERCISE was performed over the course of the weight-loss. (I barely get any exercise at all).

I did this by taking (almost) ALL processed sugar from my diet.
No bread, pasta, candy, ice cream, etc.
I eat fruit & yogurt for breakfast, big salad for lunch, sensible high protein dinner (steak/chicken & veggies).
Minimize the carbs you DO eat after mid-day
With the Salad, watch what dressing you have, the "mandarin chicken salad" from Wendy's has more carbs than a big burger mostly because of the dressing.

And my other car is a porsche 914, so if you want to talk about a "low car that you just sort of roll out of"...

HTH

23 yrs. old, 5'11 155 pounds, slammed car, I lookED exceptionally retarded trying to fold myself out of this car. I'd rather look stupid crawling out of this car rather a POS rust bucket of a car.

you think this is bad,
check older aged gentle man crawling out of a Ferrari, better yet a Lambo Countach.
i think it's the price you pay with the lower sports cars and don't worry, it is a cool thing to do haha

Perhaps with some dramatic music. "Theme from 2001" comes to mind. Then I TOTALLY wouldn't look stupid.

It is a good thing you did not buy an Elise. They would have to bury you in it.

But then.....that would sort of make you look cool if they did that.

Everyone thinks I'm a gentleman for walking around, opening the door, and helping my 52 y/o wife out of the car. But the truth is, I just don't want to stand around for 5 minutes waiting for her to extricate herself, especially if she's in heels and a skirt.

lol I think you guys just need to practice more...left leg out, grab steering wheel and push. Just as easy as getting out of a sedan for me.

Knshro13 07-19-2015 02:52 PM

Ive never had any issues getting in and out of this car. But reading some of your struggles had me laughing. Especially the walrus, beer and pizza.
