Exactly. I went with Longo knowing I'll be in the 30s or 40s on the wait list but at least I know they won't mess around with me and try to throw in a few add ons without my consent. Its good to know my hard earn money is going to people that respect me. It's not a fluke my family and I have bought over a dozen cars from Longo

It's all about trying to make a fast buck by playing on peoples emotions. Leather seats, edge guard, window etching, it's all just another way to nickel and dime your customer. I've seen it done with new model CRV's, civics, accords etc (Back in the good old honda days). And guess what. They sat on the lot with all these extra add ons collecting dust because everyone went down the street to the other dealer who wasn't trying to pull a fast one. The ones that we did sell sold for a steep discount.

I've mentioned this before in another post, but if you (the buying public) want to stop these shady practices take your business elsewhere. These aren't limited edition porsches, these cars will be readily available in a few months, so don't fall for the crap. They're just trying to find another sucker. Money is power and if you reward these practices they will continue. Use your money to support good business practices and these jokers will follow suit. I for one don't mind paying extra for good service especially if it means I'm not support bad customer service. I understand dealers are a business and they're in it to make money, I get that, but when you try and sell people what they don't want and then charge them extra for it, you are no longer a legitimate business in my book, and therefor don't deserve my money.

So to the OP, get your deposit back look around elsewhere. Hell wait a few months. All these FRSs with dealer add ons will be selling with deep discounts in no time.

PS: if you want to see some serious dealer add on fail check this out: http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...-is-incredible

Everyone wanting an FRS in SoCal just go to Longo like everyone else has said. This "limited" argument is getting old.....the MS3 was "limited quantity" with only 5K units being sent to the States in 07.......6 months later you could have it for invoice.....

They are getting custom re-upholstering done, and then making the buyer fork over the extra cost. Same with the stereo options they are installing, and the tinting they are doing. "You're gonna do it anyway, so we did it for you."

I understand your point, and I have had a deposit down on a BRZ prior to all the hype and I am getting a great deal. The point is that he refuses to take deposits and commit to specific pricing because of greed. I think that point has now been clearly established by all the posts and now everyone here can avoid the dealership and move on to honest dealers.

Yes you can. It's an aftermarket installation by the selling dealer for 2K+.......

If you really want leather just wait for Clazzio in Japan to come out with there kit and import it for $400. You will then have the satisfaction of installing it yourself...

The desire for getting your hands on the car also plays a big part in that. Many people want to get the car ASAP, and waiting sucks. So sometimes going to another dealership could net you a "Not until 2013" type of issue.

That being said, Longo Scion's list is HUGE for a reason. They are going to end up making more net profit, and having more net sales as a result of their approach.

All being said Nathan is NOT being dishonest at ALL. If anyone thinks he isn't they're foolish. He's been straight forward with everyone about what is coming, and what will be on the car. He's also not accepting deposits because things might change based on what his management wants or thinks will sell best for them. That's a really smart move if you ask me.

Not gonna lie kinda curious to stop by and see the seats you add to it. Most of the reviews have had pretty good things to say about the stock seats, not sure I'd want to mess with that. Are you getting it on yours? Or are you still considering colour?

I totally agree with you on that part. See my /rant post above for that. I think the brand/product will both end up being hurt if this continues on. The car is supposed to be under 30k, but it's suddenly going into a territory where the price no longer makes sense when you can get so much more for that same price.

In the 30's I can get:
370z
Cooper S
Genesis V6
Mazda Speed 3
WRX
Evo X
GTI
Mustang

There's so much more competition with so much more to offer the driver. That 5k difference really changes your perspectives, and is 5k I could have spent on tuning the car instead.

On top of that you're in the hole another $5K due to depreciation. No?

Wow, I've never heard of dealers doing that before. That's bullshit! What if you want the car stock!?

Very very true, but you don't buy an enthusiast car hoping to make money. I bought my AE86 for 2k with a zenki levin front end on it. I dumped another 8k into it. It was KBB for 400 bucks. When I sold it I only got 3k for it. I lost a LOT of money, but I gained a LOT of fun/fond memories and good experience wrenching and driving.

Then you either have to wait and hope they stop doing that, or go elsewhere. This initial launch of the car is very hit or miss and turning out to be very disappointing.
