if that's the case then it's the problem between the dealer and the manufacturer not the consumer. manufacturer sets the MSRP not the consumer. there is always a difference between whole sale and retail price.

God damn, tired of seeing people try to smudge a dealerships name on here that has done nothing wrong. Its one thing to have put a deposit on a car, with a price, and to come in the next day and the car is priced higher than before. Its another thing to just be a piss ant because you aren't happy with the price.
Seriously? People here are WILLING to pay MSRP. That includes a fair amount of profit. For a Subaru it's several THOUSANDS over there cost on a low volume car. Yes, there is obvious overhead but it's not like the dealership is going to close it's doors if everyone pays MSRP (since many people invoice or close to it for their cars and yet dealerships stay open.. service is where the money is at and used car sales, not new car sales).

No one is expecting a handout or a car at a loss here. Everyone is just expecting to be treated with respect and not ripped off by the greedy dealers who give all dealers a bad name.

There is overhead, yes. But the MSRP includes that as well as profit for the dealership. MSRP will never mean "breaking even". I'm fine with agreeing to disagree. I know multiple people in the industry as well, they'd laugh at MSRP meaning breaking even.

Absolutely but some here will appreciate the forewarning on various dealerships methods of pricing the car. There likely will be a sucker to pay 4k for mostly pointless dealer extras and standard items included in the car (like the floormats).

I'd like to see a picture of the sticker because if they are over charging for add-ons then yeah I agree. But also in the original post he said he wanted 4k off(add-ons for nothing). Did they charge 1600 for bespoke instead of 800? Just wondering what was over priced.

$4k = nitrogen in the tires (I've never seen a dealer charge anything for this on a new car before), under body protectant (almost pure profit and not worth having, especially here), pinstripes (seriously?) and window tint.

Window tint in reality, price varies, but between 75-200 depending on quality of material, deals worked out with whoever installs it for them, etc. Nitrogen = basically free on this scale, under body protectant = bottle is cheap, time is short to "install", pinstripes depends on paint vs vinyl, but again, it's cheap. A buddy used to do them for local dealerships and with paint he'd charge 50-70 per car depending on the size of the car.

The dealer can't overcharge for anything official Toyota/Scion, just for their add-ons. But that's, in the worst case maybe $400 of crap.. for 4k.

That's why I'm saying I want to see the sticker. All that stuff outside of the nitrogen and possibly the under body protectant is factory(pinstripes maybe not).

Dear Chedder (original OP)

We thank you for coming by Headquarter Scion and Seeing us about the FR-S. These vehicles as you know are limited. All dealerships were originally informed that we would be receiving 1 a month from the manufacturer, however as you know we are getting a few more here than originally anticipated. As of now the current inventory anticipation is the 3 automatics tomorrow. Beyond that and the current inventory on the lot we dont see any available inventory until a minimum of 6 weeks out. These vehicles do come from Japan so we would expect a minimum of 6 weeks before we will recieve any additional units in manual or automatic.

That said we thank you for coming to visit us and you can always request a unit without the added options on it as you did and we offered to sell you the unit without the options on it as well. We did add the equipment on the original white one as a display vehicle when the original purchaser was over seas and defaulted. While the details can't be discussed we did offer you to sell the vehicle less the options.

If you did not find what you are looking for, or were unable to get an FR-S I would encourage you to come back and see us. Please keep in mind that once current inventory is sold we do not have an ETA on any future units here or anywhere else in Florida.

Having said all of the above we thank all of the people who came to see us, and those that came back to see us and are allowing us the opportunity to earn your business. We will continue to work hard to earn your business and show why we are the best in customer satisfaction.

The vehicles you see listed for Royal Palm are not in fact at Royal Palm. The vehicles listed are all the vehicles in South Florida at any dealership. What you see is a list of units that will be on sale everywhere. Those 19 that you see are what will be available as I mentioned until they are sold and once sold no further ETA is available for any dealer in the entire region. The point being we dont know when or how long it will actually be before we get more units and currently their are no FR-S models at sea and thus no ETA for future units.

Is it possible to finally see one on the ground? I rather see it on the ground to really appreciate it's size

lol is this Alberto (internet sales rep at HQ Toyota)? Because the only one that knows i placed a order is alberto because he called me a hour before you posted and I told him I already placed a order. Then floridaguy must be Tony (random guy sitting behind the counter next to the manager) then.

Btw this car was never offered to me without the dealer installed options. This car was offered to me for $410 a month with out me giving a thing down and I said lets work it. When it came time to signing I asked why does the paper say im giving cash? Salesmen said I had agreed to pay taxes up front after I said im not giving anything down. Also the car was priced at high $26ish before tax/title/dealer fee.

Also the car has 81 miles on it. If those miles are from the same test drive you gave me last night in ht back lot then there has been ALOT of test drives.

This doesnt add up to your original statement. You stated that the car was priced at MSRP + 4k in addons. That would put it north of 29k.

Chedder: I'm niether Alberto nor Tony. However, as I said before you can ask for a model without options. As everyone knows this model has limited availability as I stated earlier. We have spoken with various intrested customers of which some do want the added equipment and some don't. Since it is a limited option we have chosen to make a few models available with the options for customers who are interested in these features. That's not to say that you are required or being forced to buy with those options. You can purchase the vehicle as it is displayed if available or if you so choose you may wish to put a deposit and we will advise on the next unit of which we will not add those features.
