Also, do you recal the ambient temperature that day?

Yes that is with the OEM radiator. I didn't collect a lot of data when I upgraded to the misimoto radiator mainly because I don't remember doing another track day. Around the street the temps were about the same as the stock unit.

Has anyone considered using the Derale sandwich adapter? It looks like it would clear the lip.

Your link is dead for me. Also, I would consider using the Mocal Adapter as it is made for the twins. You could always get a Derale Cooler. I priced everthing out and came up with ~$322 using everthing except the cooler from racerpartswholesale. Then getting a Derale 16 row cooler from summit for $98.

I already have a cooler & lines. I'm looking for a more affordable adapter that doesn't have to be modified to fit. The Mocal is not made for the twins. It is a standard adapter with a generic spacer & a longer oil bolt, hence the fitment & clearance issues with the fuel line.

Did you ever install the Derale sandwich plate? I bought it off of Amazon, but I'm a bit concerned the O-ring on the OEM oil filter may not cover the squared off area above the thermostatic spring on the Derale plate. A little concerned oil will spray out.

I haven't had the extra funds as of yet. Try buying a cheapo Fram and test fitting it off the engine to see if it covers the opening. You can always return it after taking a look. Or just walk in the store and screw it on and see what happens. LOL.

Will it clear the lip on the stock oil filter pedestal?

Homebrew Oil Cooler (Setrab/Mocal)

I think it will be a problem. The corner square of the bored out area is just on the other side of the O-ring by half a mm or so (enough to make me think it would leak). Too bad because this appear to be a relatively cost effective solution compared to the $160 Mocal unit.

I shot an email over to Derale to see if they have ever confirmed fitment with a FRS/BRZ

I think that can be fixed with a weld, but what about fitment on the car over the lip? You can also tell them the oil filter. FWIW We use the same oil filter as the Rx7. K&N part # HP-1004

Also, can you take more pictures of the adapter from all angles, and one with the area of concern.

@mit_peid They replied to me and said to try the Fram PH2 or K&N HP-2010

Yeah they replied to me as well. I sent them some photos of the OEM filter gasket being slight too small to cover the opening and they said that one of their covers might work. Probably won't be until Monday until they're able to confirm. I would definitely prefer a solution where it does not depend on the brand of oil filter for it to work properly.

I'm guessing he was talking about a cover like in this photo.
