Dual Zone Auto Climate Control A/C

Yes they are gimicky and what not but I plan to keep the car for a very long time and I want it to feel as modern as I can for as long as I can.

Option that come with GTS are:
17″ Alloy Wheels (1k)
High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlamps (500)
Daytime Running Lamps (100)

Utility & Comfort:
Smart Entry/ Start (350)
Dual Zone Auto Climate Control A/C (unsure...I will say $750)
Driver & Passenger Seat Heater (1k)

Audio:
6.1″ Sat Nav Audio(500)

As you can see these is not 10k worth of add on here.

All my guess adds up to 3200. If you have a better idea on these option prices let me know.

3,200 sounds about right ... make it an even 3000. should be cheaper when you budnle it altogether shouldnt it.

seems most cars these days have push start and keyless entry. ???

This seams reasonable to me....although I was looking at a golf R and mind you only looking, the want $5,000 for leather seats!. The salesman said to me don't worry if you carnet afford it you can get the original non leather redone in leather with a company that they are affiliated with for $3,000....

Not sure how many GOLF R's the are selling but I can't imagine they are selling as many as they could at that price...$55,000 +

nice to have's... leather is overrated. (cold in winter+hot in summer) especially for that price.

hmmm ... seat warmers ? air con ? guess fixes leather issues.

Mind you, i have not had AC for 5 years .(heater works after 10min of driving lol).. Its killing me, but still getting by.

Thanks for listening :P
You nit-pick and get it wrong yourself!

Hachi-Roku (ハチロク)

The badges on the back of most Toyotas are in english. The Japanese can't always pronounce these correctly. I don't go around calling a Corolla a Karora just because thats how the Japanese say it.

If the badge says "86" and you speak english, you can call it "eighty-six", or "eight - six" if you wish. You can call it hachi-roku only if you speak japanese and are speaking to other Japanese people.

Personaly I will call it ZN6.

You contradict yourself here. I am not wrong to say its Eight Six then?
Plus Eight Six in Japanese, English or Swahili is still Eight Six.
It has nothing to do with pronunciation.
Having said that, Tada-san himself called it Eighty Six in English as well.

It think in other languages like Mandarin, Malay, Cantonese and etc they still call the car Eight Six in their own languages.

I guess it just sounds better with Eighty Six in English than the actual Eight Six.

Sorry a bit off topic here...

It's fair enough that you would like those options. And don't forget the leather interior that comes with the GTS pack as well, which is never cheap.

If it were me, though, HID lights and LED daytime running lights are cool if you have them but not really an issue if I don't. The same applies to the starter button and smart entry. They don't affect the driving experience itself.
In the case of the climate control, I'd actually prefer the regular system! Most automatic climate-controlled units I've come across are too complicated for their own good and a simple system does everything you want it to much more easily (granted, I've mainly seen Italian cars).

At the end of the day though, your point about wanting to be future-proof is a valid one. As to whether those small changes are worth an (estimated) $5-10k to you, well, that's up to you to decide.

For what it's worth, I had a look at the RAV 4 on Toyota's website as it's a car I've seen people use as a model for 86 pricing. An AWD cruiser costs $41k driveaway, while the luxury Cruiser L is $47k - a six thousand dollar difference. Using this as an example, I think what the original article (and actually the second article which said ~40k driveaway for base and ~45k for GTS) mustn't be too far off the truth.

Yes that is right other lights do the same function... help me see at night, I just like the look of HIDs more. LED not really a fan of the ones in the 86 the ones in the BRZ are awesome!

Again you are right the push button and keyless don't enhance the driving by any bit, they enhance making the car feel more special though.

The air con not really getting it for the auto as I would never use it. I am after the dual zone, as my GF always wants the aircon on where I don't want it I rather just wind(power) down the window.

At the end of the day though, your point about wanting to be future-proof is a valid one. As to whether those small changes are worth an (estimated) $5-10k to you, well, that's up to you to decide.

Hopefully not long to go now till we find out - as for the pricing speculation on carsales.com.au - that's all it is because once again adbloodynauseum the only source of information given is "motor dealer sources" ROFLMFAO I work for a Toyota dealer and i can assure you, had we been told, you guys would have already known about it.

Please try not to stress yourselves out with assumations (is that a real word?), wait for the facts from TMCA. Unless TMCA is the quoted source it's a guesstimate.

Personally i'm hoping it's cheaper, just gona have to wait and see. And whilst i agree with Static that there doesn't seem to be 10k value in extras between the 2, mate i think your cost pricing may be a bit off, especially the 17" Alloy Wheels, most likely they would be a custom make for Toyota in which case even if you took the margin out they would most likely still be about 450 per wheel plus tyres, the rest of the stuff i'm not sure about but in reality i think you would find even at cost it would be more than 3200 though how cool would it be if it was?

4. Take their deposits now but don't give them a price yet. Wait until the first shipment arrives. This adds to the buildup.
5. Now we have the upperhand. Charge them +50K for the high end spec. +45K for the low end spec. The people who reserved really want this car and they know that the numbers are limited. If they back out, the next people in line will take the bait.
6. Rinse repeat every shipment of cars until the quota is met.
7. wonder why they units aren't moving when half the preorders drop off and randoms look at the brochure and point out that it says 'affordable' and ask what happened to that.

The wheels that they mass produced for every market? at 450 a wheel!!!! NO WAY!! yeah at a RRP sure... at cost price no way!!!

All the price I have are based on an Aftermarket items I found with a simple google search. Yes OEM stuff gernallry cost more... cause it comes with a factory warranty, which then also doesn't effect your cars factory warranty.

I laughed at the source of the carsales pricing info!

I haven't seen anything yet that states LSD is factory fitted for the RRP given/suggested, its only been mentioned as optional, as in yes it can be fitted with the factory diff for that model.

From the way i read it, GT auto has no option for LSD but the others do, so id say the GT auto is a different diff and/or housing.

As for LSD standard fitment, i think it wont be on the manual GT unless you ask and pay for it, that's my 2 bobs worth.

As for 10k more for the GTS, could include LSD as well. Still no where near 10k worth thou.

Hoping im wrong for the pre orders, but id suggest you ask and demand an answer as your cars will be allocated and most likely in Aus already, demand answers.
